Hey friends, never owned a Ferrari before and new to this forum.

I recently found a really good 2016 488 spider with highly options -- carbon fibered interior, skirt etc, the original options like around 80k and the window sticker for 355k, but the mileage is really low, like less than 1.5k miles, the car only had 1 owner, and the condition is like new, dealer asked for 290k for now.

I'm seeking suggestions here that is the price worth it? in terms of the value, does the year matter most or mileage? Or what other suggestions ppl here could provide?

    Thanks.

This is certainly straightforward.. if you want a used car that has not been driven (which could be a bit of a negative for fluids/tires/etc.) then you pay a big premium for a low mileage car. This is a standard series production car, and putting miles on it will quickly decrease the value to be more in line with the rest of the 488s on the market. This is a personal question. I wanted to put miles on a car so I bought one that already had miles.

my 17 spider had 19,000 miles less than 2 years ago and i paid 320k

seems like 290 is a steal

That was 2 years ago. There are currently ~100 488 Spiders on the market priced between $235K (25K miles 2017) and $340K (1K miles, very optioned cars, 2019 model years, etc.)

260K for one with 20K miles seems to be the median option and logical if planning to drive it. Paying a premium for options you love isn't crazy either though. It's just all personal preference.

Yeah, 2 years ago is the peak for all used car market, I sold my 5 years 911 tbs in 2022 due to the price hype

    Thanks for your reply!

I'm in eastern coast, probably just drive it on weekend for fun car, no track. Probably 2k miles per year I could use due to long winter and no need for daily commute etc.

With this context, I will think about resale value that let's say after 3 years, the car still less than 7k miles, and not sure whether the resale price for it still be good considering it's over 11 years old by then.

I'd say $270k is probably more of market value but it's really hard to say with how wildly the prices and auction results have varied on these. If they are selling it for $290k they probably paid $260k for it.

I saw a number of high priced cars recently as well as some very competitive pricing. My own 2 cents is to determine color and what options are most important and get that. I think it’s better to wait a bit for something you really want. As above mentioned, prices are all over the place and in my experience that’s not new. Many of the cars are consigned with sellers that sometimes have unreasonable expectations. When I buy, I do my best to determine what I think market value (often different from what I think it should be) is and then make a reasonable offer. In the above case, if they want 320, I don’t think there’s much chance of getting it for 280, but you never know unless you ask. Good luck with your search and please post pictures when you get a car. This board is a wonderful community

Thank you! @gabf1 , really appreciate for all your suggestions! The price of the car in my post is 290k, and after discussion dealer is only willing to reduce to 285k, 320k is someone mentioned what they purchased for the similar car 2 years ago.

This community is dope! I will post pics once I get it.

Seems alright if you love the spec. I’m about to wrap up a deal myself for an f8. It’s a fun process and I think you’ll enjoy the car a great deal!

Warning-with mileage that low on a 2016 I would expect “teething “ issues. Seals, gaskets even the dreaded passenger turbo-heat cycling. Of course driving even a few thousand a year will rapidly decrease value. A few more miles have always served me better.
