Hi guys: I'm thinking about purchasing a car on Long Island and was hoping you might be willing to share suggestions for a shop where I can have a thorough PPI performed including an SD2. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I've had a more than favorable experience with The Bradan Group in Ronkonkoma, LI. They are a perfection shop that does PPI and majors in a perfectionist way. Take your time. Shhhhh keep it quiet though, they are specialist and I need them to fisnish my car.

Even though they are the sponsor on this section, let's just keep that our little secret, okay? :)

Anyone have experience with Ferrari of Long Island in particular? The owner would prefer it be brought to a dealer for the PPI.

I would go to go to Ferrari of long island. They have done great for me and they are the only authorized dealer on long island. They also have instituted fixed price routine service for all Ferrari cars out of warrantee. it is great to have an authorized dealer relationship. At an authorized dealer you know the mechanics are certified and will be in business tomorrow to stand behind their work. Just my 2 cents.

Great you have so many FerrariChat sponsors to choose in the area. I don’t think you can go wrong. My only personal experience is Universal Autosports as they are giving me full support in the Ferrari Club Racing series. Their professionalism, experience, and pricing fairness is some of the best and I have dealt with several independents and dealers over the years.

Sounds like you have some great choices in the metro area. FWIW, I've gotten to know the guys at Universal this year through the Ferrari Club Racing Association as they've been my support team. I've had a very good experience with Luigi and the guys. Good luck with your purchase decision! Have fun.

I have personal experience with both Luigi (Universal) and Crazy Enzo (FoLI). Both gents are top notch and I have only positive things to say about their workmanship, knowledge and character. You can't go wrong with either.

With that said, my personal preference is to stay with the dealer that knows the car and its history the best.

Thanks to all of you for your helpful replies to my inquiry; this feedback has been very helpful. I will post a reply with my experience once the PPI is completed in the next several days.

I just wanted to update you guys and let you know that my experience with the crew at Universal (and Pete in particular) has been phenomenal. They were extremely thorough in their inspection, kept me in the loop throughout the process, and are compiling a complete report of their findings for me. If the guys at Universal are reading this, thank you for providing such great customer service and value.

Unfortunately (or rather fortunately) the deal fell through. The PPI revealed a lot more than was initially disclosed: whereas the car had some paint issues that were described as limited to the engine hatch, the guys at Universal discovered a multitude of paint issues over almost the entire car: a front bumper which was poorly resprayed, scrapes underneath the front bumper that were covered by skid plates, a poor quality respray of the side skirts, and damage to the roof, and rear quarter panels in addition to the aforementioned damage to the engine hatch.

Both Pete and Anthony at Universal were wonderful in sending me a complete report with numerous pictures of every single flaw that they found, as well as taking the time to walk me through their findings in a series of phone calls and patiently answering all of my questions. Having this thorough PPI performed by the guys at Universal saved me from making a very, very costly mistake in purchasing a car that needed extensive paintwork. If there is a take home lesson here, it is that one should always be diligent in having a PPI performed by an honest and thorough shop before purchasing a car.

I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the guys at Universal who really came through for me. Thanks guys!

To avoid controversy or conflict regarding the car in question, I would prefer not to identify the particular car. If however you are in the market for a CS, please PM me and I would be happy to share my findings on the CS' that I am familiar with in a private conversation.
