    Hello,
I'm in the process of refurbishing the "frame" (lack of a better descrip) beneath the rear louvers. Which has been removed successfully and just picked up from powder coater.
Now, I want to remove, not the entire louvers, just 6 rivets, 3 on each outer edge of the louver, to remove a piece that the frame attaches to.

So far my best solution is the flex attachment for my dremel, tried the 90 degree att but it just doesnt fit. I dont want to approach the rivet on an angle, which is where I am now; I get almost straight in to the rivet with the flex attachment. But maybe there's a better approach?

Does anyone have a method or tool the will fit between the individual louvers to get at the rivets?

I also will post the entire process with pics once I'm done..

    Thanks.

I'm not looking for a rivet tool.... a method to REMOVE the rivets.

    Thanks Mike.

The flex shaft on my dremel is what I used too.

Yes, please post your pics. I've yet to reassemble mine.

Thanks, I hope to get to it later this week.

You can find replacement black rivets at MCMASTER-CARR.

Yes, I understand, drilling is how to remove the rivets.

Did you approach the rivet on an angle b/c you couldnt get between the louver fin?

I didnt want to approach the rivet on an angle, thought there was a more effective method.

Later this week I'll use my flex attachment for the dremel.

I guess that is the "best" approach.

I'm being a broken record b/c I want to have a clear cut answer for when I post the refurb thread. I'll cite all my searches for it too.

    Thanks for the input.

I just wrapped a work rag around the drill (to protect the paint), masking tape on the chuck (to protect the paint) and drilled the rivet head off with an 1/8" bit - yes, at an angle.

Had the car painted and the louvers powder coated semi-gloss black. Put it back together with pop-rivets, again with the tool wrapped with masking tape.
