    Hey guys-

I'm venturing out to Barcelona for the F1 race this year. I haven't decided where I'm staying, and so far my calendar is completely open for that week (other than qualy and the race). When I travel internally, I usually like to rent a house, instead of a hotel.

Any suggestions on where to stay? ...any "must sees"?

    thanks!

awww... don't be like that wetpet. I need you to stay on my side an help keep me out of prison, like last time in italy.

    Does this ring a bell?

    ----
me: "wetpet italian police are trying to shake me down for a bribe, what should I do?"

wetpet: [5 minutes of uncontrolled laughter]

wetpet: "give em their f**n' money"

I hit many F1 tracks in my Navy days in the MED - everyone else ran to the bars to get drunk, I took a few friends and the first cab to race tracks - could tell you some stories (sorry I digress). Barcelona is a beautiful track (semi-if not fully privately owned) and in VERY good condition by today's standards. Parallel would be "INDY" for quality of venue.

As far as what to see, my wife and I spent a week in the city of Barcelona, and the two things I would not miss would be the Museu National d Art Cataluna (I am not necessarily a huge art fan by nature, but this was very well done and worth the time).

Of course you can't help but see the somewhat "crazy" Barcelona Cathedral. You can't miss it's massive size, height, and overly Gothic stance. It was being worked on when we were there and the word is that it always is...worth a visit as well, and great photo opp.

Other than that, I love the entire Catalonian experience. People are nice, laid back, and the food is fantastic. Enjoy. I just found my Brochure from the track there the other day. There is a small dedicated "Shrine" like area to Senna in the infield behind the paddock if you can get that close on a race weekend. Small but well done.

    Have FUN! Go Rubens!
