My LG phone (through Verison) is a POS!!! I have 1-2 bars when others w/ Verison service (& different model phones) have 4-5 bars in the exact same spot. I lose calls ALL the time. Verison wants to lambaste me $200 for a new phone even though I just got this one a few months ago (upon THEIR recommendation). When I brought it in and told my saga to the salesman he said, "I never did like that LG model." Priceless. Gimme a frickin Tommy gun and a bell tower. Thanks, Jerry.

I have had nothing but absolutely great service from my Cingular Razr. Of course, I'm in a completely different area than you, so Cingular may not perform well where you are. The Razr has been fantastic, and it is a big improvement over my Sony-Ericson T610 and Nokia something or other (cheapest phone available).

I have the same phone and haven't had any problems, except for recently needing a new battery. But that was after a year of service.

That's classic!! I was just thinking of Monty Python & the Holy Grail (another classic of course) the other day and starting laughing about the "coconut" scene.

That's because you most likely are in close proximity to towers almost everywhere you go. The Verison rep told me that in smaller areas (i.e. where the towers are further apart, like where I live) this phone gets worse reception than others.

In the summer time you will have less reception in general, because of the humidity. At least that is what my friend tells me and he owns a cellphone store. My phone sucks now too!

I am waiting on the new Nokia 8801. My Nokia 8890 I love, but it is old and does not work well anymore. But over 5 years is a long time for a phone.

After hours of research and looking (15 minutes), I have found a website that DOES indeed show the RAZR for Verizon. It is just a matter of time before it comes out, I have heard August 31st, September, before the holidays, january....

I have heard they are testing it right now, I have heard they just brought it into labs to test. I don't know which story is straight...

Does anyone work for Verizon that would know? I will buy one the day it comes out, just when does it come out????????????

The RAZR is pretty nice. I wish sprint would carry it. I might as well switch to cingular.

I thought about switching back, but I did leave Cingular for a reason.

Plus, I hate those 2-year contracts that we all sign up for (verizon), I'm stuck

I wouldn't doubt that Verizon will cripple the Razr. Verizon has a habit of disabling features such as BlueTooth on phones imported to their infrastructure.

Regardless, the Razr is fantastic. I've never used my BlueTooth, so I wouldn't miss it if it were disabled. Get the Razr when it's available, or the SLVR (which should come out soon).

Personally, I'm more of a Razr fan than the SLVR. It is a good looking phone though. You'd think with these new phones coming out, Verizon would be trying to get the Razr out asap.

I've heard that people have seen employee's at Verizon stores walking around with the Razr for verizon..

I think the problem is with licensing. Cingular probably bought an exclusivity contract with Motorola to be the only supplier of Razr for the first year. The Razr has been on the market for close to a year now, so perhaps that's why Verizon is now in the works to supply it.

I've yet to see a SLVR in person, but what I've seen on the net seems nifty. Being poor and stupid, I don't see having the $800 bux to upgrade, though. But, I love my Razr, and am happy with it, so no big deal.

well, I thought about that too... but now T-mobile carries the Razr.
I saw a korean version of the CDMA razr, the one that works for Verizon listed on ebay for like $1200. Which is outrageous, and these korean versions don't have bluetooth, or the E911 function.

I've been using a Motorola V710 through Verizon for months now and I get great reception even on backroads in FL in the middle of nowhere. My fiance has Alltell and can't even get a signal in town without dropping a call.

So don't blame the phone, blame the service.

Jerry, I am in the EXACT same boat. I have the same phone and I get the same 2 bars when everyone else has great service RIGHT NEXT TO ME (also with Verizon!). I went in on Friday of last week to get a new phone and the slaesman said that I would have to pay full price for a new phone although this one's not even a year old! I might buy a phone from Faisal but I am so pissed that they won't upgrade my phone

I hear ya brother. They sold me this phone in January at the "special" rate because I signed up for another 2 years of service so I asked them to give me the same deal now and they said no way. They are the ones that recommended this phone to me, I knew nothing about which cell phone was good and which was not so good.

After playing with lots of different Verizon phones, I still find my LG VX6000 to have the best of all worlds. Find an old one on eBay or HowardsForum, and enjoy a great phone!

I got myself the LG VX8000 and my son the VX6000. Should have stuck with the VX6000. The 8000 is to big and the features on the 6000 are more practical.

I'm waiting for the Razr to come to Verizon and then I'll switch to that one.

What is it specifically about the Razr that everyone is so excited about?

Well, I like it because it functions very well as a phone. Lots of people dislike the razr and prattle on about how it lacks this feature or that feature. I use my cell phone as a PHONE. It gets the best reception of any phone I've had(I'm not a Verizon user, I'm cingular) and it has crystal clear sound. The only complaint I have is that Motorola could use some work with their OS and their phone book. While functional, both are dated and slow.

I like that the razr is metal, as metal phones tend to be more durable. I've had a number of metal phones and this one is the best so far. I've dropped it on concrete and marble numerous times and other than wearing some battle scars everthing works fine. No cracks, breaks or loose parts.

I would buy one again in a heartbeat.
