A fair amount of those cars aren't the Sultans, and weren't ever part of his collection. Mostly low res crap photos
Sebas (Basman007) is a member on FChat too; all his finding are also in this thread: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85959&highlight=brunei
I know the history on some of the cars there, and that they were never even in ownership outside the US... let alone, the photos are in the US. perhaps a little presumptuous to say "a lot"
Could you point out which ones? They're commonly believed to belong to the family - even people who worked in the garages there never said anything about these not being from Brunei collection. Are you able to fill us in with some of the info you have (if of course it isn't confidential)?
:-/ I've send you a pm edit: And I think this thread can be deleted, as there allready is a 30 page long thread on Fchat about the Brunei collection.
I'll admit I only went through a small portion of the gallery, but the Vector photos are in California, and don't belong to the Sultan, or the royal family, and never have ( at least a few of the photos). There are 2 Vectors which have belonged to royal families..... W8 01, and another one to the Saudi Royal Family.... but thats it... and at this time, only one is still in their possession. I'm pretty certain at least one of the Dauers is the same way... those were the press photos anyway... there were a few other cars, but thats what I can remember off the top of my head.
I don't know where you base that on, but it's false. The owner of that Vector M12, Dr. Briney, bought it from Prince Jefri. Dr. Briney has confirmed this during a Crystal Cove meeting. All the Dauers in my gallery are/were definatly in Brunei. This has been confirmed by an ex-Brunei mechanic and some people with great Dauer knowledge, including a gentleman who works for Jochem Dauer. edit: spelling
Who's talking about W8's? You are. I've never said anything about the Vector W8 nor do I have pictures of one in my gallery. (edit: I wasn't saying anything about those Saudi W8's in my post above if that's what you're thinking) The fact that it is not officialy a Vector doesn't take away that this particular car was in the possession of the Brunei Royals...
There is some W8 in the the background (/next to) of two pictures of the M12, as are a dozen Ferrari's and Porsche's :-/ The title above those pics is 'Vector M12' You didn't seriously think I was implying that all the cars that were present at Crystal Cove that day belong to the Sultan of Brunei, were you? :/ lol That's all you've got to comment??
I was also wondering about the EB110... I'm pretty sure that was the car at Bruce's shop? (although, he does import cars from the Sultan's collection with "some" regularity. ) and... actually, the title above the pics is just "Vector" since you mention it, and the name of the photo is "454362.jpg" anyway... Can you blame me, i woke up a few hours to early, and couldn't get back to sleep.
If you click to open any photo you will see each one titled "Vector M12" with the appropriate photo no. What you are referring to is the page title (which if you look through the whole gallery only designates the manufacturer), not photo titles.
The pictures of that standard LHD EB110SS are taken at Modena Motors. Well, sorry if I was abit short towards you, but I get a link to this thread from Menoy, open it and read your post saying that ALOT of my gallery was BS. That just pissed me off. When you're saying something like that at least add wich cars you're talking about and why you think that, don't state it as a fact without any additional information.
Megatech used insider trading to purchase a majority stake in the Vector Aeromotive company in early 1993; paying a sum of nearly $20 million to a broker who barely had his feet wet (he's now enjoying life far away from chance prosecution) to make the trade the very minute that Vector first went public. At that time, Weigart had over $2,000,000 in deposits from costomers around the world... one of the first things Suharto did as a legal investor was take away Weigarts abilities to fight him, and returned the deposits to each costomer. Slowly, court injunctions took over one building at a time in the Wilmington, CA by armed thugs. ... the court system failed Weigart, and his employees at that time. The Indonesian company was lead by Hutumo "Tommy" Suharto, son of the President of Indonesia. His thugs, as they took over each building tore apart rolling chassis, and componentry from the assembly line to the dread of the steadfast Vector employees. Eventually, Megatech had all the buildings at the Wilmington facilities, and retained "one" Aeromotive employee during the move to Florida, near the Lamborghini America headquarters. It took Weigart about 10 years to win the company back, but he did win it back.
