    IMHO the FX looks unappealing.
    A standard F512M looks better.
    Sorry

Wow, i first replied to this thread on page 4 and since then its really kicked off again, I worked in Brunei as a Pininfarina Spanner and even iam impressed with lots of the replies posted, my interest lately has been the post where-abouts of the brunei cars as iam currently working in the world of racing, well would have loved to have stayed in Brunei but Pininfarina along with the other manufacturers pulled out, and so my job under the hot humid brunei sun ended! I have a personal photo album of the cars in brunei which has never been published and indeed contains pics of cars that proves rumours true and sometimes untrue, every now and again i show the album to car buffs and the expressions are varied, most people go "coooool" alot say "what the hell is that" everyone says "why so many" i showed it once to a real ferrari guru who said "is that a FERRARI" but the most bizzare response was from a father of a current F1 upstart racer who told me that is was totally "disgusting" and he walked straight off...iam still trying to figure that one out, some of the comments i have read have been well disjointed while some have been very accurate, their have been plenty of posts that have educated me and corrected my understanding of some of the cars i even worked on. So hooray to u all, keep it coming! a few points to note.. the ferrari GTO evo that sat in the glass garage was a working machine...well apart from the dash but that got fixed in Turin, Is that evo still in brunei or has it been sold on..anyone?? she's a stupidly quick machine..on par with the dauer's. I couldnt remember seeing a yellow F1 in brunei until i did alittle digging in my photo box..and what do u know, it was there...that must say something about the size of the brunei collection that i couldnt remember seeing a yellow Mac F1 in brunei yet i had a pic of the damn car in its yellow garage in a shoe box...and it rarely moved from its spot while i was there! The bespoke transmissions in the 550's did not shake as one person posted, shows u how much u know mate! it had a small glinch which was sorted during final development in the uk, All Pininfarina bespokes where in a class of their own but as time moves on then iam sure faults will appear as the makers are no longer the up-keepers of maintenance of these short production runs bespokes. During the final days in brunei i promised a couple of admin people a spin in the cars to burst their Ferrari cherry, well we all knew time was closing quickly in the workshops, took a chick from admin in a XJ220, it recently had a Pininfarina Refurb and looked the nuts, all i got from that test drive was big thankyou but no banana if u know what i mean! ahem, took a few chaps from various depts in the workshops for a few runs and even managed to break down in a 456Venice during a hot run, Coolant pipe blew off from the aux water pump and i didnt realise until the temp warning light glared on, ops..is the engine cooked? nah, topped up the sucker with fresh coolant and blasted my way back to House5 from Tutong. Never managed to crash any of cars ...well apart from a huge spin in a 512M during a silly downchange on an off camber sliproad, but hey - what do u expect in a car that has a center of gravity 20 feet above its roof, or is that polar moments... saying that iam friendly with the spanner that crumpled an F1 Mac, now thats a good story!

That report on the FX is brill to read, cheers to the man who took the time out to scan and post that on here, I drove an FX in Brunei and remember the fun knocking down the gears as blipping the throttle was ECU comtrolled-hence perfect everytime with a great bark and rasp to please the sound sensors. A few 355's where also buttonshift controlled with a similar system-pre 355F1, had a few problems with both systems which proved a nightmare to trace as technical backup meant a phone call to either williams or prodrive depending on which system, and could i find a wiring diagram...did i heck! couldnt even find a system overview..damn racing teams and their secrets! Good luck to the next mechanic who hits a fault with these systems, i had a rite few fun hours sweating a solution to a no-go gear request! its not the ECU! njoy

    Hi Citronella,

Do you recognise these two Bentley's?

The silver grey one looks abit like what I would imagine what the front of a Bentley Silverstone looks like...

As for the Evo, I've searched for it on the net and all I could find was that it still was in Brunei. I didn't find any pics of it.

Edit: oh, and I've got another question :) Do you know how many Dauer 962's there were? Is it true that there were 3 yellow one's?

    Nice.

Are you sure that the Sultan owns a Sbarro Alcador (based on Testarossa) and a Vector M12 (based on Diablo)? Where did you get that information? Thanks.

Yup, the first pic is a frontal of a Silverstone, Totally gorgeous car but very rarely used by the family, to be honest i cant recall one being used but then i didnt spend too much time on Bentleys, not ones that Pininfarina didnt have a hand in anyway, Have done alotta work on B2's and some on B3's, and for a car that weighted over 2 ton it really did shift, The B2's had a cool opaque polarised roof that tinted at the turn of a switch, i collected one example from a location in london and remember the looks that this Grand car pulls, certainly gives the ego a boost...shhhh they didnt have to know it wasnt mine! The second pic is certainly bentley but not Farina's concern, i have a suggested name for it but need to confirm before i mislead you or myself! Their where more than 3 Dauers but def not 3 yellows, only 1 that i can recall.. but must admit i only stick to facts that ive seen with me own eyes or discussed with reliable sources, if their was 3 yellow then they where located at a different location but i cant see that from what i know, i knew the Dauer mechanic, a decent german guy that hooked up with a local girl, spent quite afew nites drinking beers and talking about home! You have to understand that their is sooo much unreliable FACTs corncerning the brunei collection, a lot of people make up stuff so they appear in the know, ihave read sooo much crap even off here, but at the same time i certainly dont know everything so iam careful to what i say! I drove a Dauer...just the once mind as they very rarely seen the light of day... but hey...i reckon it was the quickest thing in brunei..hard to say if the 288 EVO was an even match or quicker. Trust me i didnt play with the Boost bleed-off valve much on the Dauer, it was well scary!!

Ohh whats the addy of your brunei web page basman, sound like you have some wicked photos!

(there are 15 pages with pictures)

I believe most of what is in the gallery is correct.

Edit: I'm really having trouble to identify the 962's. Can you tell me something aabout the Dauer's you've seen? Are they all RHD? And how many/wich colors are there?

The 512Tr spyder (one of the very rare factory spyders - less than 15 were made if I remember well) is currently in China and owned by a Chinese collector in Hong-Kong (RHD). Not sure it was previously in Brunei.

The Bolide was Pininfarina's, not Brunei. And it wasn't a car either. Just an empty shell made of fiberglass on a tube chassis rollin' on skateboard-like wheels. It is said the Brunei reps (and maybe Jefri himself) saw it and did not approve the design, then they didn't ordered anything. The shell stayed at PF and was scrapped soonafter.

Yeah, I know about the Bolide (made with the intention of selling it to Brunei Royals, but Brunei didn't want it). But it's such an awesome thing that I just had to put it in there.

(the list contains 11 TR Spyders)

Yes, Prince Jefri used to own an M12. This car was bought by a Dr. Briney, who took it to CC a couple of times.
