Probably an extensive service. Car seems to be running fine. According to eye witnesses the car has been spotted cruising on a Brunei highway escorted by five other cars two weeks ago. Happened at night, after curfew in Brunei,

I remember that quite a while ago, all of the pictures of most of the cars where available in a gallery by Basman007 in supercars dot net. What happened to them? Can someone find them anywhere else?

Basman still has them IIRC. SC dot net had a server/forum format change and we lost the galleries and I don't think he's uploaded them anywhere else.

He's on here though. @basman007 are you around?

Seems like the car ended up in the Bay Area and the owner intends on driving it (photos by @emster458).

    As per the post description:
"Probably the first release of the seventh Ferrari 456 Venice Estate in the United States, this photo was taken near San Francisco, according to rumors the new owner wants to return to the original specifications on this car (green)."

1st guy was active for 1 year only and 2nd guy is still active on this forum.

Still remember when Basman007 posted all the details on ************* as well.
Very different times with many other posters posting pics or information about the cars and the family.

Wonder if any1 else who works or worked there will give more inside info.

    Hello Everyone!

Does anyone know if i can find most of the pictures of the collection in one place? Are they uploaded somewhere? I'm new here, i was advised to join.
I'm trying to create a private collection of all the pictures i can find so that's why i'm asking.

    Thanks,
    Vince

There's plenty in here through the different pages and then Instagram - plenty of sites to allow you to download from there - using the different Brunei spotting accounts.

@basman007 used to have one big gallery, dunno if he's hosted it anywhere else though.

    1990 Pininfarina Testarossa Spider s/n EFG092

    London, Marlborough House
    5 November 2022

    Chassis No. EFG092
    Engine No. EFG092

    Documents: Bill of Sale Only
    • The “Special Production” Pininfarina-engineered Ferrari Testarossa Spider
    • Commissioned as a bespoke project by the Brunei Royal family
    • Ordered new by the consignor in November 1989
    • Never previously registered for the road; only 413 kilometres on its odometer
    • Subject to over €177,000-worth of restoration work in 2021 by Pininfarina and Zanasi
Given the right level of status—and the bank balance to back it up—almost anything is possible in the world of collector cars. Behind doors which even the most astute of collectors may struggle to unlock, cars considered too wild for mainstream manufacture are created; bespoke projects straight from the imagination are brought to life. Perhaps one of the greatest examples of a collector’s vision made reality is this striking and rare Pininfarina-made drop-top, representing the peak of 1980s excess.

It is understood that towards the end of the decade, Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina was approached to undertake a custom project. The coachbuilder was briefed with commission for supercar unlike any other. It is thought that Pininfarina made seven almost identical but ultimately unique "Spider" adaptations of the bespoke order for Brunei Royalty, each finished in a different exterior and interior colour combination. In addition to these Brunei cars, a very small number of Testarossa Spiders were built for important clients, including the consignor.

Moving away from the global automotive manufacturing convention of a 17-digit VIN, Pininfarina instead created a new, truncated serial number convention for these rare convertible creations—this example is numbered “EFG092”. Remarkably, this car has never been registered for road use, and is thought to have spent much of its life on static display. As such, the odometer displays only 413 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. Due to the lack of any recorded registration document, buyers should check with their local authority prior to bidding with relation to registering this car in their intended jurisdiction.

Revived from its life-long state of static display in 2021, the car was taken to two factories in Italy for restoration work. Firstly, in March of that year, the convertible returned to Pininfarina, where technicians at the Cambiano factory worked on the convertible hood mechanism, returning functionality to the open-and-close mechanism, along with a full repaint. One month later, the interior of the car was refreshed by the carrozzeria. The combined total for this restoration by Pininfarina was €94,300.

In November 2021, the car was taken to Carrozzeria Zanasi—the Maranello-based specialist used by the Ferrari factory for the finishing and paintwork of all Prancing Horse supercars, Tailor Made and Icona cars—to tend to the car’s full mechanical condition. Further to the installation of a new clutch and fuel pump, technicians worked to disassemble, clean, and restore the engine and suspension. An itemised bill found in the car’s history file totals €83,170 for the work that returned the Testarossa to “like new” condition

While only one Testarossa Spider was known to have been fully built by the Maranello factory—Fiat boss Gianni Agnelli’s personal car, distinctive in silver with a blue roof—this Pininfarina-built equivalent offers a fascinating insight into a world of ultra-exclusivity. Today, this example presents as an alluring piece of automotive history—justifiably qualifying for “unicorn” status in certain car enthusiast circles—and would be a wonderful addition to the collection of any supercar enthusiast.

Interesting that the article mentions seven Testarossa Spiders being comissioned for the Royal family while the VIN list for the famous garage #5 shows eleven Testarossa Spiders with the truncated VIN:

    FER TR SPYDER BP8899 EFF109
    FER TR SPYDER BP8890 EFF110
    FER TR SPYDER BP8898 EFG089
    FER TR SPYDER BK75 EFF112
    FER TR SPYDER BP8988 EFG086
    FER TR SPYDER BP8998 EFF111
    FER TR SPYDER BN6326 EFG090
    FER TR SPYDER BP8778 EFG088
    FER TR SPYDER BN1779 EFG091

    FER TR SPYDER DPD EFF113
    FER TR SPYDER DPD EFG087

There seems to be a siginifcant difference between Testarossa Spiders with VIN "EFG" and "EFF". I assume that the remaining six "EFG" Spiders have the same color combinations as the bespoke 456 versions.

Which to me means that this (EFG092) is NOT a Brunei car, but an additional/separate car built for another important client, the consignor.

I think the other cars are 512TR Spiders, but that's just my two cents.

    FER TR SPYDER BP8998 EFF111 - Anthracite/Black

    FER TR SPYDER BN6326 EFG090 - Silver/Black
    FER TR SPYDER BN1779 EFG091 - Blue-Green/Black

The first five start with EFF, while the other six start with EFG. FER TR SPYDER BP8890 EFF110 is the only one of those that I think is red + I've got pictures of a red Testarossa Spider. So maybe EFF stands for Testarossa Spider and EFG for 512TR Spider. If this assumption is true, then I can fill in the only blank spot with the blue 512TR that got pictured in Rome during Ferrari's 50th anniversary and in Singapore during Ferrari's 60th Anniversary:

FER TR SPYDER BP8898 EFG089 - Blue/Black - When in Rome, it was wearing the 'DPD' plates) - s/n #97310

There are three TR Spiders pictured in the gallery:

@Marcel Massini ...but this car has the plate DPD, which stands for Duli Pengiran Digadong (also known as Prince Jefri Bolkiah). How do you explain that?
I also have a private photo taken at Zanasi where the car also had the same front plate. Can this be a car meant for the Brunei Royal Family but was never delivered?
Since it seems that EFF stands for Testarossa Spider and EFG for 512TR Spider, how can EFG092 be a Testarossa Spider and not a 512TR Spider? o_O
