SUMMER SPOTTERS

VERY unusual sighting this morning.. all weekend up near Waukegan there are three cool planes that are buzzing out along the lake and right past my office window..
a Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress "Nine O Nine" WWII Heavy Bomber
a Consolidated B-24 Liberator "Witchcraft" WWII Heavy Bomber, and
a North American B-25 Mitchell WWII Medium Bomber !!

I did some digging and it appears they are going to be down at Palwaukee airport starting monday. They will be selling rides in them too as part of "The WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR"

Rides are expensive, but where else can you ride in one of these? They also are allowing viewing inside and out for like $10

 

A red 430 Spider on Lake Cook Rd this morning.

 

There is Tod's chance to place his 328 next to a kewl aircraft again.

 

Yea, unfortunately i am going out of town starting tomorrow for all of next week.

I am sure those aircraft are heading North to finally end at Oshgosh at the end of the month for the airshow.

I am still trying to figure out how i can be nose to nose with a stealth fighter... Thats the picture i am trying to figure out.... And a real one too, not photo shop'ed either.....

 

Nose to nose with a SR-71 would be nice too. Mike Charness at least managed that feat once with his 308.

Bentley Flying Spur heading northbound around 12:30pm on Saturday. Also saw a GTC and GT but didn't get a chance to snap off a pic.

Yeah! I do a lot of driving and I came across this cars all the time!

 

Being a Rolls owner, I must say that the new Rolls/Bentleys are buttass ugly!

 

red f430 coupe in front of 325 Lasalle going south at 10:30a.m. Saturday.
Black Bentley CGT in South Chicago near the Bongo Room.
Lime green Murcielago in front of Chicago Theatre Building (Belmont and Racine) Saturday night(10:30p.m.)

Sunday in no particular order:
Black Phantom on Irving Park Rd.
Silver Flying Spur and f430 spider in Lake Forest.

 

I couldn't tell, but either a 348 or TR around Chicago Executive Airport on Willow Rd. around 12:45pm.

 

They're not as elegant, but no car is anymore. I do like the new look of them though.

 

The absolute worst rear ends are on the new Beemers. What the hell are they thinking?

 

Hard to argue that one! The 7-series has grown on me. The 5-series is just plain awkward. The 3-series looks decent though. And well, the Z4 I always thought was just plain awkward looking. I much prefer Mercedes styling.

 

Today 4pm in the Loop: Tony Tiger with the red golden 360 Spyder.

The nose on a Phantom makes it look like it slammed into a brick wall.

Ok, the Bentley GTC isn't bad, but its outward look lacks any elegance.

 

Saw what appeared to be a dark blue 410SA headed south on 55 Monday morning near mile marker 267.

 

Grey 612 approaching 14 in Barrington from a side road about 6:00PM last night. I believe someone mentioned that they saw this car in Crystal Lake last summer.

 

A very clean white Diablo with a wing in Hinsdale on Friday night.
