Has anyone thought of media coverage for this? Not that I plan to tip them off, but it might be interesting to get some coverage AFTER (i.e. AT THE CONCLUSION) of the run -- definitely NOT at the start. Might be a good opportunity to show the "civilized" side of exotics ownership that gets overlooked from time to time.

And before people start flaming me here, please understand, I am one of the original "let's keep the route private" people so I DO NOT intend to alert the media, this is just a suggestion i am putting up here for us to consider, and see how others (beginning with Hovik), feel.

    SO looking forward to this...

    J.

We're out for a sunday morning drive, just happened to be 70 cars... and thats how I want it for now...

News like this doesnt sell unless we DO ravage the roadways.

I doubt we'd make the news anyway with all the "sell-able" news going on in the world (Lebanon, Gas Prices, Regular Homicides, children being hurt/killed)

Its the crap like that you see on the news. Not a bunch of well-to-do yocals with big dollar performance cars.

Now if we run someone over or crash into a house, then we'll be on the first 20 minutes!

Ill volunteer to crash into a house if Nip lets me borrow his car.

How often do you guys have group drives or meets?

Other than the occasional track day, there are few Lotus drives and gtg's.

I'm really going to try to make this event.

btw Hovik, The Ross Docks slightly north of edgewater (entrance is via a long road off River that takes you under the GW bridge to park area) may make another great place for a photo op with the GW bridge in the background. It costs $5 to get in so they maintain the park areas but there is ample parking...more than the Whole Foods lot (I think someone mentioned that is where the meeting point was).

Thanks again for putting it all together.

I was down at Ross Docks a few weekends ago for a gathering and there was a patrol car down there that said you need a permit for anything over 30 cars. He was also handing out tickets to cars with no plates and expired inspection stickers. Just something to consider, not sure what the exact rules are though.

The place we're going to has about 2-3 eating places and a dinner down the street. I've talked to the owner of the dinner and he can accomodate all of us.
If you need any more details about the place PM me.

Guys...the way to look at this is a car meet with a drive to follow.

We also should consider the fact that Whole Foods may be open and 70 cars in their parking lot may cause a bit of an issue with management (especially without permission).

I'll reach out to Hovik (we've been discussing various facets of the gathering since day one), and sort through the details.

Keep your eyes on this string for the final meeting place and times. As for stopping to eat, I don't think that is realistic given the size of this group. We would literally take up an entire restaurant based on the numbers here.

Oh and as for media coverage...I vote we leave that out of the equation.

    Eric,
Whole Foods - We're going to stay there only 30 mints. Everybody should get there at 8:30AM and we're leaving at 9:00 Sharp. Whole Foods opens up at 8:00AM and I'm sure their parking lot is not going to be full right away, specially on a sunday morning.
Eating Place - I've talked to about 6 resturants in the area, and 3 of them would be able to accomodate 70-100 people and 70+ parked cars. The reason I didn't go with them is because they were limiting the menu to about 4 entrees (italian food mostly) and wanted $40+tip per person.
Instead I talked to the owner of the dinner, who will have full menu available, can accomodate more than half of the cars in his parking lot and the rest at the neighboring parking lot. If people want to sit down and eat they can do that, and if they want to grab their food and eat next to their cars, they can do it also.
    PM for more details.

I did not want to bring it up but I wanted to stress the same thing. I wonder if the weehawken ferry parking lot would be better for this ? There should be no commuters there on a sat so I would think the parking lot would be empty.

There are a few large parking lots along riverside maybe someone could go scout out another location for this.

What about the vince lombardi rest stop ?

I hear ya, but trust me I think moving the meet to a lot that can EASILY accomodate us without question is the way to go.

30 minutes usually turns into more and when you have this many cars in a lot that has shopping carts and minivans, we could have issues. Not to mention that the Edgewater Police dept is directly next door.

See my PM...but I suggest we use the BIG lot in front of the Binghamton Restaurant (behind the Binghamton Tennis Club). It's HUGE, descreet and will allow for us to get in and out easily.

It's only 2 minutes further down River Road.

Shoot me a PM regarding where we plan to stop and eat. I have a feeling a good number of the group will want to continue driving and not neccessarily pause early on in the drive. You should get a count so you know exactly who will and won't eat if given the option.

im stoked for this.... im exicted to cover this and provide everyone with some memorable photos and i have a bad ass idea for a video that me and another person may work together to produce for everyone to put on a DVD for you all to keep.... ill supply the blank DVD's and charge enough per DVD to make my money back for laying it out for the DVDR's and with whatever extra money is left over i will pass on to HOVIK and ill discuss with him about puttin it towards another cruise somehow...

HOVIK if you read that ill tell you about it in person in the morning or over lunch on sunday.. im sure you will like it ... its a non profit thing for me or anyone else but will benifit everyone in this awsome weekend comming up.... :)
