I don't know whats going on in the great state of NJ, but this morning on the Parkway I saw and heard stories from my co-workers of the same; unmarked police cars pulling over any body and every body for speeding. This was at early hours, too 7:30am -


That is all . . .

 

Maybe it's just the nice warm weekend, but took the 308 out to warm up the engine for an oil change. No less than 7 cops in 5 miles mainly on major town/county roads.

 

Clyde and Ciao's observations today are very troubling... (I've observed similar heavy police presence on the Palisades recently, too).

I can't speak for others, but I'm personally not interested in a run where I'm freaked out about cops the entire time. Just not fun when you can't enjoy the drive because you're looking over your shoulder every 3 seconds.

That said, I'm still in for tomorrow, but ya'll can just laugh at me if I don't keep up -- fine with me. I'd rather go for a nice relaxing "Sunday ride", enjoy some twisties, see some nice summer scenery and hear my engine just purr, than ROAR right into another ticket... Just my two cents. I hope I'll have at least one or two of you opt for the "cruise" too, but if not, that's cool.

Alas, my surprise addition won't be ready in time (dealerships and their 5-day work weeks...bah! ) But I should have the Z06 and need to stretch its legs a bit before she's ready to be fed to the wolves....

the bear mountain area was swarming with cops today - everything from park police to motorcycle cops to state troopers driving v8 camaros.

hmm....v8 camaros....all you have to do is put some water down and they will just spin out Yeah I went out around NYC/pal parkway today and I saw about 2 cops. I was out for about 70 miles just cruising.

Ill cruise tomorrow with you guys. Maybe if we hit some straight we could push it a little, but cruising might be the best idea.

 

Im sure the fact that lady commited suicide up there has something to do with that.

Im up for cruise, a quick breakfast then cruise.

 

When the weather is not up to par for those that picnic in the park, cars become the focus of the park police, unfortunately.

They usually have 2 cars on during the week, summer months they go for 6-8 on the weekends.

 

Sure. That place is a ticket goldmine for cars and bikes. If i was a cop needing to earn some $$ for my town and I worked there.. All day long, bro.

 

The State Park Police are wanna-be NY State Troopers - they go to the same academy, but only the top of the class goes to become Troopers. The bottom part of the class goes to the State Park.

Local cops are bad in my town, Highland Falls/Fort Montgomery, just north of the Bear Mountain Circle on Rt 9W. I live here, know the cops and don't speed.

do any of you want to meet in NJ sometime? like maybe rt 4 or rt 80 or something. Then we can caravan to the cloisters. Maybe if john wants coffee, we can meet at the starbucks on rt 4 and then head up. Any ideas?
