I thought I would share a little fix it tip I did the other night. On my sun visor in the 360, I noticed the leather around the mirror was a mess. It was like this on my friend's car as well. The leather area around where the mirror is was all pulled away and you could stick your finger in there and see all the interior of the visor, etc. It looked terrible.

Anyway, to repair it, I took some 5 minute epoxy and put it into a small hypodermic tube with a point on it. I squirted it into the area where the leather was pulling up (around the edge of the mirror) and then used wood and clamps to squeeze the leather down all around the mirror (I put duct tape on the face of the wood to protect the leather). Then I went back and removed the excess glue that squeezed out as it was drying.

It was a long process, but finally I got all the extra glue cleaned up around/off the mirror surface. I used a combination of my fingers, a little plastic tool and some goo-gone. It looked really good at that point (after cleaning things up), but the glue left a little white rim around the inside edge of the leather.

Anyway, from there, I took some black silicone RTV sealant and used a very fine point hypodermic tube to run a tiny bead around the inside of the seam (where the white glue could be seen). Then I went back with a toothpick and made a nice trim line and cleaned everything up. The black silicone soaked into the leather and gave it a nice finished look around the rim.

Anyway, it came out great. It looks factory and the leather is right up against the mirror all the way around. I'll attach a photo here.

Sounds like a lot of work but it really looks nice and finished....the way it should have come from the factory. Nice fix-it tip.

Thanks! Yeah, it took an hour or so. It was a fun project :) Not that I use the mirror over there very often, but I like the idea that it's not out of sorts, etc. :)

I get the feeling that since Ray bought his 360 and has undertaken all his projects he has given up assembling model airplanes!

hehe :) Next on the list is fixing the fuel gauge so it reads full when the tank is full :) I ordered the new sending unit today and will install it as soon as it gets here. I'm starting to run out of things to repair on the car :)

I did install some titanium lug bolts last night. They look awesome against the titanium color of the car. I'll include a couple of pictures here.

Lug bolts look stunning. I can't use those.

My wheels use a small and special lug bolt which Ryan Sabga gratiously supplied me to install the 15 mm spacers I put on.

My wheels are SAC and were made in Japan by Enkei. They will only accept a 17 mm diameter bolt head. The wheels' offset was a bit too negative as well. So, I bought 15 mm spacers from Hill Engineering via Ricambri and now the track looks fantastic. It handles better as well.

Ryan had worked with the SAC distributor and just happened to have the 10 plus a spare I needed.

If I go to the 19" Challenge wheels I'd use the bolts you used.

    Nice job.

What about those model airplanes, eh?

Also, I bought Mother's Mag Wheel polish, and when I added the spacers I cleaned each lug hole on the wheels. What a difference that made.

    Try yours, Ray.

I've built a few models in my day, but none in many years. My brother-in-law, on the other hand, has a huge collection of model air planes. They all look very nice. He will air brush them right down to bullet holes, etc, etc. Last time I built a model, it was an F40 and I think it was one of those "snap tight" ? models that are pretty easy to put together :)

Okay, I may get motivated here and drive up to Santana Row. If you see those lug bolts and a guy with a shaved head, that will be me.

    :)

Wait a minute. All you are bringing to Santana is lug bolts and a shaved head?

Go up on the 9th and bring Tony with you, too!
