Hey guys, my name is Dino and my family owns MiLLeNiUM Banquets on Cass Ave. in Darien. I have put together our second car show for June 11. Last year we had a real nice turnout and expecting a better one this year. Here are all the details. Location: MiLLeNiUM Banquets 8025 S. Cass Ave Darien, IL 60561 http://www.milleniumbanquets.com/ Time: From 1:30-5:00 Looking forward to seeing you guys there! Any questions, feel free to ask me.
Ferraris on Oak St. is June 11th. It is one of the biggest Ferrari events of the year in the Chicago area. I would guess that if anyone is doing anything that day with their car, it would be Oak St.
My experience so far has been that the club people are too polite to say something. After all we had Jerry with his bling wheels and yours truly with the abomination of a rear wing. However expect some harsh comments from the crowd that walks by. But then again you can take comfort in the thought that they are on the other side of the fence for a reason.
Black Wheels!?? Actually I thought about black. There was a set of black challenge wheels. Wife vetoed. Went with original white instead.
My wife was unsure about them when I came home with them on. Now she says she loves them and would NEVER want me to go back to the stock silver. I totally agree. The car just wouldn't look the same without them!!!
.....yeah.....I grew up with cars that had gobs of chrome on them. Never could really get into the mono-chromatic look. Not knocking it by all means, just not my style. And, I'm seeing that they are starting to put some Chrome and Polished Aluminum on the new Sportscars that are coming out these days. (From the new Saturn Sky, all the way up to the new Spykers.) And, personally, I like that. The C3, 3rd.generation Covettes, too. (1968 to 1982) I would take a chrome bumpered '68 - '72 over any of the other ones. And, like when you look at the interiors of the older Exotic Cars friom the early 1960's. The Chrome bits all over the interior. The Knobs and switches. And, little flashes of Chrome on the outsides. Bumpers and Wheels, too. IMO, I think that looks great.
Good call on the wife. I totally love black wheels, but I think you should stay true to the heritage of the car as a Challenge car, hence white. To be honest, if it were my car, I'd even more change it back to its Challenge state by taking out some of the carpet, add a fire extinguisher, racing seats, roll bar, rear wing. I'd just stop short of the 5 point harnesses (they are a hassle) and the slick tires (and the ridiculous ride height for Chicago streets).
Andreas, I'm working on that idea. In fact I was going to ask you opinion. I have the plexiglass covers for the front fog lights. What do you think? Install or not? I was also looking for front and rear tow hooks. I do have one OMP five point harness, but it won't fit with stock 348 seats. Part of the roll bar is still installed. 348's though in original race trim never had a rear wing. I thought about seats if I could find a set of original 348 seats in good condition, but wife vetoed racing seats. Richard
I'd do all the mods that make it look racey, but that don't affect creature comfort. So no to the racing seats and no to the 5 point harness but yes to the plexi covers and yes to the tow hooks. Also I'd take some of the carpet out, replace it with polished aluminum and installs a nice big red fire extinguisher. Some central ignition off switch would also be cool.
Thanks for the input. I agree. Thanks Skip, Ed's wheel guy did a great job refinishing the wheels. look new. Edit: unless I could find seats like Pluzit has. Check out thread on 348 seats in 348/355 section. Sorry I don't know how to put the link in.
How about some stinkin' badges? Your car would definitely qualify for the "Scuderia Ferrari". Much more so than most Ferraris with those badges (mine included). I think they make now some half thick ones that don't stick out as much and don't require the expensive fender tooling/respray process. Yellow on black would look awesome.
Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges! I have some magnetic ones. Look cheap up close, but maybe I'll put them on to preview. I'm always worried that once they are one I won't be able to get them off.
C'mon! The twins managed to remove the sticky plastic badges, magnetic shouldn't be a problem. Put some clear plastic underneath them if you're worried about scratching the paint.
Cass Banquets is a nice banquet hall......but I think most people will be going to Ferraris on Rush.....I know a few people that were interested in buying that banquet hall when it was on the market
Anyone from here interested in showing up? I am trying to get an idea of how many cars from each forum are expected to show. Thanks
I am not sure if the GTO-R will be ready by then, if so, I was planning on visiting Oak Street for a bit, then head to your place, but I dont think it will be ready, so dont count that as one, but if it is ready, it will be a nice addition for you. Either way, good luck, hope you get a nice turnout.
