To those of you who are saying they want two, I have no way of knowing if the left visor pin is the same as the right visor pin. they are different part numbers and a significant difference in price. This makes me think they are not the same.

I hadn't thought there was a problem with the drivers visor, but without a broken part I have no way of making a new one.

Anyone with a broken drivers side visor who can send me the broken part?

Bill, Looks like the aluminum part would interchange. I'm wondering why its the passenger side
that fails most often. If the tube size (ID of the sleeve) is the same we're golden.

I'll look into sourcing some 7075 aluminum, would be longer wearing than 6061 I believe.

I hate production runs though. Long ago I had the idea of making alloy lug nuts for the Brabham. I made one, which was kinda fun, then I was faced with making another nineteen plus a few spares. That was drudgery. :) But I don't think its cost effective to go to a CNC shop.

OK, I ordered the material, was able to get 7075 should be here by weeks end.

In the mean time I'm going to price out villas in the South of France. ;)

My thinking is that the extra weight of the vanity mirror assembly is what speeds along the passenger side demise.
Tonight I am meeting with close friend with CNC capability to watch F1 race we missed this weekend. Briefly discussed the thought with him and said he'd take a look at your pics and my visor parts. Don't want to step on any toes but if he offers for a reasonable amount, maybe we can use your aluminum and get parts done and back to you.
Dave, sent you a PM with his company link.

An update on the visor repair parts, Konadog has confirmed that the driver's side is all plastic so only one aluminum piece is needed. (Thanks Bill)

    PM me for details

I'd like to add that Ferraridrivers repair is the best way to handle this. Like FBB's prior comment in this thread, the new oem visor arm/pin from Ferrari is a temporary fix at best. The passenger side piece is poorly plastic molded over an aluminum tube, it comes this way new from Ferrari with cracks/splits already in place. Just installed one and have no doubt that I will be repeating that job again too soon.
Next time it will be done hopefully with Ferraridrivers piece, nicely done!

As mentioned, the drivers side visor arm is solid plastic. It's probably because the drivers visor is lighter weight. Apparently they last longer. The mold quality of this side was better without existing splits or cracks at least on the one I purchased. It is about one third the price of the passenger side from Ferrari.

Just a note for those using my fix.

You MUST use only Loctite 620 Retaining Compound. It's really expensive but you only need a couple of drops. I found it at Sears for about $15. Do a Google search, you may find it somewhere else cheaper.

Do not use the more common red or blue Loctite, those are thread lockers, not ment to fill gaps.

    Any questions just PM me

I was thinking about sending Terry a PM about how much my dog liked his visor.

'cept we don't have a dog anymore, and he would'a had heart failure. :)

June 3rd!!!, Wow, you're doing great.

I'm 4 1/2 months into it now and it still hurts.

I spoke to the doc yesterday and he said it can take up to a year, everyone's different.

We've a couple of trips coming up, a friend's wedding in Istanbul in Sept. , and a golf trip to Italy in Oct. I hope it's better by then.

You guys and your joint replacements are scaring me. So far mine only get stiff, and do not cause a great deal of pain. Walking, not running, 2 miles a day seems to help. Wading in trout streams really helps. Heavy boots, running water, etc. Plus it is fun.

Don't worry, your's is a later model, it's the earlier ones that are prone to problems.

My wife had hers done 4 months ago and she is still hurting, but she has not put in the same amount of time I have.

Dave, Have you tried pool therapy?

That will help sometimes, it makes it a lot easer to work the knee in water, I'm going to go just to get my wife to go with me so she will work a little harder.

(I'm glad she never reads F-chat)

    Hope you start feeling better,

    Bill
