I admit that I'm so yesterday,

That's why all the joint replacements.

With the F1 I would have back in the car in two weeks .

But for me the three pedals are just so much fun it was worth the wait.

Hey Terry if it has a V 12 up front what else can one ask for !!!

Dave- Installed the visor today and it fit perfectly and makes a nice resounding thump as the mechanism closes it against the roof. So you got the clock position on everything perfect. Many thanks for an outstanding job. Now I can consider getting a windshield blocker. No way to do that with a busted visor.

FBB: 1st: WOW, thanks for the info + tutorial.
2nd: embarrassed for all the same queries, just typing to figure out how to use this site
3rd: someone recommended sending it to you for repair. I don't think I could pull it off myself. Is this a service your offer? Fee? How do I get it to you if you are so inclined?
    Thanks

Dave -- my passenger side sunvisor just happened to break this weekend. My wife pulled it down gently and we heard a crack and that was that. Can I also buy the fix from you? If so, how do I go about it? I have a 99 550. Not sure if my email address is in the system, so feel free to write me at [email protected]. Thank you. Regards, Frank

Ken, send a PM to Ferraridriver he’s the one with the fix. FBB did a great job and got us going, then Ferraridriver mastered it.
Both visor’s very easy to remove, a couple phillips screws and it’s out. Passenger side has wires for the lighted mirror. When this one comes down, carefully wiggle the wires and pull carefully. The wire seems to come out for longer than you’d think, finally a plug connector pops out and you carefully disconnect the plug. Part removed, now you can ship.

Thanks to FBB for dissecting the visor and Ferraridriver for his explanation. Without them I would never have attempted to fix my passenger visor. Knowing what it looked like inside made the job a breeze - no surprises . I pulled it apart just like they advised and repaired it better than new. It is surprising that Ferrari would design these visors to be so cheap and flimsy [ then again, they make plastic sticky switches ! ]. It was so obvious as to why the part failed where it did. Anyway, you guys are the best for offering such great photography in the repair process. A million thanks.

Dave did mine as well, just recently, and it came out perfectly, despite being in awful shape due to a poor previous fix. Frank

Hi everyone. I have a '01 550 and came across this forum thread through a Google search. Very nice DIY guide! Thank you OP for taking the time to post it.

Ferrarridriver, can you please contact me? I can't PM you. Or at least I don't think I can. I'm part of various BMW forums and most you need a minimum of 5 posts to PM. Not sure if this forum is the same.

My email is soundeffected153 AT aol DOT com

    Thanks!

I don't sell them anymore, I only fix visors that are sent to me because they all break in different places and each fix is unique.

Contact me by PM or email, click on my profile for email address.

    Hi,

I am facing the same issue but I am based in Europe.
Any chance to get it fixed in Europe? Or I have to send it to Dave?

It's well worth sending it to Dave...I sent mine a couple of weeks ago and he turned it around in one day...the visor came back perfect.

Ditto. I sent my driver's side sunvisor to Dave (ferraridriver) about 3 weeks ago.

My visor was starting to droop about an inch or two every time I drove the car.
Came back from Dave in a few days time, worked perfectly.

The visor fits nicely in a large FedEx mailing box.
Just send Dave a return label and he ships it back in the same box.
I did 2 day or 3 day delivery service each way - shipping costs were low.
