Seen yesterday at Tiziano Carugati's dealership in Geneva, Switzerland, a red/black Enzo with a SUPER LOW chassis number "106902" (one-zero-six-nine-zero-two) and Swiss license plates from Geneva "GE 66606". According to Carugati this number was given by the factory to a "post-production" Enzo.

A "post-production" Enzo...? Do you mean an Enzo that was made after the original 399/400...? Did you get any pictures...? :)

    So that would be pre-production.
It is a very low number, isn´t it?

And this is a prototype, free to be traded on the commercial market?

106902 is not a pre-production car and not a prototype. It is a regular and standard Enzo. It may be a post-production Enzo, however. Apparently the factory "found" an "unused" early chassis number and assigned it to this Enzo. The car is owned by a private Swiss individual in Geneva and is not for sale.

128014 was just one of several Enzo prototypes. 128014 was originally yellow and was later prepared for regular sale. It was repainted black and sold by the factory to Jochen Zeitz of Germany, CEO of PUMA sport shoes. 128014 also has a way too high assembly number (57868) and a way too high engine number (90079) compared with the normal standard Enzos.

As mentioned before 128014 was repainted at the factory (from yellow to black) and modified into standard Enzo configuration so that the car could be registered in Germany.

Wow, that's earlier than the late production F50's. Very strange!

What does all that mean? (sorry for my ignorance)

    # 106902 is a chassis number that would seemingly slot into F50 production around F50 282 of 349. My car is # 107200 (341/349) assembly number 26965.

The assembly number of # 106902 is probably way higher than the F50 range (?)

That is the question! Not ignorance at all, because none of us really knows. Normally chassis numbers are allocated more-or-less in build sequence. It would appear that Ferrari have found a handful of old numbers they never used before. Or maybe they were on prototypes that were subsequently destroyed, or something of that nature, with Ferrari, who knows! Another side to this is whether it indicates anything deeper. For example, as Marcel Massini has indicated, at least one of the Enzo prototypes has now been tarted up and sold off. What one might reasonably ask (and as yet, there is no definitive answer) is whether Ferrari have really made a fair few more than the 400 Enzos they have claimed, in much the same way as they whacked out a few extra F50s over and above the 349 they said they would make. This is all part of the rich tapestry that makes up Ferrari history day by day!!!

OK so chasis number I understand. A few other questions. Presumably Ferrari would be aiming to use this sequentially with the only gaps being due to scrapped protoypes/test car chasis numbers? This chasis number is incorporated, as the final digits, in the VIN? Of late (last 30 years or so) has the chasis number always been a 6 digit number? How does the assembly number fit into the greater picture?

    Awesome...!!! Thank you...!

The interior on that car looks ALL black - is it...? That would make this car ANOTHER all-black Enzo...!!!
