    Anybody here done the super slow workout regimen? Just curious if you have about what you thought of the overall results.

    What do you mean by super-slow? The actual workout, or the movement itself?

    That's what my trainer does with me. I'm no fitness fanatic and it works for me because I only do it once a week and I hate to work out. I am getting stronger so it must be doing something.

    It is a training regimen with specialised machines developed by the Nautilus folks.....it is a regimen of reps using about 12 excercise machines where weights chosen are used to take the particular muscle group to near failure in about 12-15 very slow reps, with some pausing and tensing that is almost isometric like. I am currently in the ramp up phase doing 2 per weeks....after 12 mos....I will probably reach my weight/muscle development goals and then start doing the 1 per week maintenance.

    Lots of people are starting to go this way, and rehab patients are also signing up. Our local super slow started with one guy and about 3 clients, and is now 4 trainers and about 200+ clients. Lots of 50+ people going this way because it seems to be something they can stick with. I know I was super sore 1&1/2 days after my first workout.

    My trainer and the guys he works with have been doing it for years now. He explained it all to me when I started and it makes sense to me. I know I usually get really sore a couple days or so after my workout, and I've progressively been able to lift more. Gradually, but I am able to increase. I used to work out with a different trainer three times a week for longer sessions and it didn't give me any better results. She didn't push me nearly as hard. This is also good for me because I only have to be able to find one time per week to squeeze it in, and I have a hectic schedule.

    My trainer had mixed thoughts on this a coupe of years ago. The theory that you train for what you do (in addition to body sculpting and increasing metabolic mass) makes this a little hard to figure out how this would help in daily life activities. But, an advantage is you can really waste your muscles (failure) with very light weights. I have done this when traveling and stuck using a small hotel gym, on occasion. I'd be interested as well to hear current opinions.

    It is nothing new, made a resurgence a few years ago, and has since waned. As another curve to throw the neuromuscular system and psyche of exercisers it's fine. Nothing magic about it; just another spin on resistance training that'll make you sore in the beginning. It won't get you huge gains in strength of size, esp if you've been lifting a while. It's not terribly functional, IMO, but has it place to break the monotony of the same old same.

    I thought he meant the workout routine where you lift the weight at regular speed and then lower the weights super slow. It is my understanding that that method does build more muscle...
