Perhaps someone could refresh my memory about the differences between the "F1A" system on the Superamerica and the "F1" system as fitted to contemporary (e.g. late model) 575M Maranello F1's or is it just that the control panel is cosmetically different? Thanks.

Now I come to recall that the panel is functionally different too in that you pull the lever back to select "R" for reverse and it stays in that position until you move it forward again to the "1/D" position to select 1st gear, hence the arrows.

Were there any other changes to the hardware or TCU to further improve the shifting performance?

Just thought that I would reply to my old thread hear as Terry mentioned in another thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144964167-post23.html that the F1A transmission featured the improved algorithms that were included with the HGTC updates to the 575M. The implication being that base and HGTC Superamericas should both have the same shifting performance (e.g.180ms benchmark shifts).

P.S. I also dug this recall notice up that refers to the clutch sensor on the F1A equipped 612s (05-07). Recall Number: 08V214000

HGTC 575Ms and F1-A Superamericaa and 612s all had 180 ms min shift times, including HGTC Superamericas. In the 05/06 timeframe (612 came out in late 03), the 612 HGTS/HGTC packages were introduced with (from Ferrari) 10% reduction in min shift times (160-165 ms). The Sessanta and OTO had the 599 twin disc clutch and gearbox case and Superfast 1 100 ms min shift times. HGT1(Sessanta) and HGT2 packages lowered min shift speeds to 85 ms.
