Hey. New here... A couple of months ago, over summer, I was out cruising and happened to come across a silver SuperAmerica with beige interior. Without getting into any personal information I am just wondering if the owner lives in the Chicagoland area, namely the western suburbs? It is the first and only SuperAmerica I've seen, and if it couldn't get any better it had Tubi exhaust. What a car. I'm asking because I have not seen the car since, and if it is still around here I would love to know. Thanks. Craig
Sounds like you're talking about the modern SuperAmerica (Maranello without roof), not the 410. Never seen it. Welcome to FChat!
Ah yes sorry for not being clear it is the 2005 SuperAmerica. I had no idea there was an older model, but my Ferrari knowledge is pretty limited; which is why I'm here. Also, thank you for the welcome. Seems like a great, respectful community you have here. (Side note: If the owner happens to spot this thread I am the guy you ran into on Countly Line Road in the Vette Grand Sport if that triggers any memory.)
We just happen to be blessed for having one of the very rare original SuperAmerica 410 in our area. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The gentlemen that owns the SA lives in Riverwoods, Il, this is not his only Ferrari- he likes yellow. He usually shows at the fall LFSC event- nice guy.
Oh really? Well thank you for the info Norm, I will continue to keep my eyes open for it then. I cannot get the image of looking in my rear-view and seeing him creeping up behind me out of my head. When does the LFSC event take place? Darolls: What would a car like that be worth? Considering it is all original I would assume the value has increased a bit. I wish we had more of the older model Ferraris around my area. The farthest back I've seen is probably the 308, but I would love to see something like that 410 SuperAmerica cruising around.
You just missed it. Was last weekend. BTW: There is also a modern SuperAmerica in our area. It is red.
There are a handful around Saw Michael Jordan's black/black one at LFSC a few weeks ago. There was a titanium one, had a glossy Wynn Las Vegas license plate cover, also @ LFSC in the spring. Red one.... they are around.
If you saw it on County Line Road, I am pretty sure I know whose it is, and he lives in Burr Ridge. There are also a few in the same color combo up in the northern suburbs as well. Around the Chicago area, they are not as rare as one would think.
Oops, I thought that was Gene's SA. If it isn't, it may not be a survivor? Gene also has a 365 GT 2+2. My mistake.
In Burr Ridge? Hmm I'm surprised I haven't seen it more often, but thanks for letting me know. Hopefully I'll catch him, or one of the others, at a car show sometime I would love to get a closer look at it. I have always had a thing for the Maranellos, and having the removeable/flip-back top just does it for me. Darolls: 800k-1M?! Oh my god that's amazing.
http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=136916257#post136916257 Maybe the same one? Could have been black, who knows... unless there is a dark blue replica somewhere in the area?
There are also 3 550 Barchettas within five miles from me. (Red/Tan, Yellow/Black, and Blue/Cream) The blue one is the only one that gets driven though.
Really? Are the other 2 garage queens for car shows? For the bragging factor? Investments? I can't imagine having a Ferrari, walking past it, and NOT wanting to take it out; even if just for an afternoon hour-long cruise (the old classic ones I can understand the not-driving-to-preserve mind state). Personally I favor any car that comes in a targa/barchetta style roof. I dislike convertibles mainly because it kills the lines of the car, although I will admit, and not just because this is a Ferrari board, the 430 pulls off the vert. nicely. The targa style keeps the lines but still offers an open roof for those that prefer it. I am also a fan of black interiors more than the lighter colors. If I could take any Ferrari of choice (not including the Enzo) it would be a black SuperAmerica or 575M with the GTC package, black interior with red stitching, black split 5-spoke wheels, red calipers, and the license plate: SINISTR. A triple black Enzo and the license plate would probably read BATMOBL. Well at least the planning is done; now all I need to do is win the Lotto... Also, since I'm already semi-off topic I might as well continue... Anybody notice in the movie Bad Boys 2, in the highway chase scene (and scenes leading up to and following it) where Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are in Smith's silver Ferrari, it switches back and forth multiple times between a 550 and a 575?
Funny, I just took my girlfriend down to LFSC last week Saturday (her first real Ferrari experience, went to the Wynn but didn't really know what she was looking at). Saw the black Enzo in the service bay, she looks at me and goes "it looks evil" I looked at her, smiled and said "yes". Shameless brag, it's phenomenal to have a girl that said to me "I want to go to Lake Forest, I don't know anything but I want to learn about what you love" all I can say is YESSSSSSS!!!!!!
Haha that's amazing; sounds like she is a keeper. I am still waiting to hear those words (I want to learn about what you love) from my girlfriend. I remember one afternoon I was on my way to somewhere with her and a black 360 drove by. After I stopped pointing and yelling she calmly said, "It was so wide and low to the ground; that was cool looking." That is about the best I've squeezed out of her so far...
Yeah she's a keeper! Decided on the black 456 for a young family car, then a black/black Quattroporte Sport for when the kids get older. She liked the 599 so I guess if I have too, I can get that Wow, we better have great jobs!
I second the black/black Quattroporte Sport GT. That is, by a large margin, my sedan of choice. Oh and if you MUST get the 599 then I guess you will just have to suffer. Sorry to hear about the inconvenience... haha. Great choices though I would be satisfied with just one of those so if you end up with 2/3 or all 3 that's awesome.
Thanks Andreas for posting the picture of the series 2 410 superamerica #0715sa.Second of 6 swb built in 1957 Billiams estimate is a little light. At the time the picture was taken, there was an offer of 1.5m.
If you are interested, there is a TDF blue 550B @ LFSC (at least there was today), in the service area getting detailed. No plates...
