Did anyone else watching the game think there was some Bull$hit calls???

    1. Jackson (seahawks) called for pushing off on a steelers player after he caught a touchdown pass......
the play ended; the steelers guy was complaining, and then the ref decides to pull out the flag? wtf is that...

    2. Steelers 1st touchdown, does anyone else agree with me that he was NOT in the endzone, it looked like he tucked the ball under his chest, and his shoulder BARELY crossed the line, yet they still called it a touchdown... thats the worst call yet!

/done ranting, all in all, its been sort of entertaining,
who else wants to share their views?

Agree with 2, disagree with 1. It was clearly an interference call, and I don't really think there was a delay throwing the flag. He immediately started fetching for it after the push off; it just took him a few seconds to pull it out.

I completely agree with both. I cant believe that that was a touchdown. I really dont think it was in, it was just just outside.

Young Ref was reaching during game of pattycake, Old Ref was looking for his hanky even after ball landed intact in EZ.

I hate the sissified "cross the plane" touchdown rule. That was no touchdown.

Without the touchdown that never happened, score'd be 3-0 at the half. In a perfect world, review would have said, "no dice" and Steelers would either have kicked a FG for 3-3 (unlikely - no balls), or cranked one out to nullify the whole controversy (3-7) or missed everything keeping it 3-0, causing much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Parker just blasted for a real touchdown, so it's 3-14.

Hopefully, one team will kick the other one's ass hard enough to make the first half null and void. No matter, Cowher's going to be bawling his eyes out either way. If not, "we wuz robbed" will be headlines somewhere. Looks like Steelers are finally on fire in the 3rd. No, wait - somebody tell Roachbatslugger that ol' A.G. Bell already invented the telegraph - jeez - he may as well be waving semaphores. TD, 'hawks, 4 point game again.

    What's the spread?

When I saw 'talk' I thought someone was complaining of Madden's commentary.

At least he's not drawing crazy pix all over the screen.

Oops - 'birds punt receiver didn't. He likes to watch.

Quick question - do fumbles count as fumbles anymore?

Play of the game: The steelers double hand off then touchdown pass. We'll be seeing that for next week. It was beautiful. Pure poetry even.

Good game, not the outcome I was hoping for, but at least Bettis got his ring. Much props, Hawks got beat by the better team today. Looking forward to next season already...

Shame the Refs are the issue, even with instant replay, but I can't complain. I am glad to see Duce Staley, even though he is injured, get a ring. He's from Columbia South Carolina, and twelve others including Boulware (also from Columbia SC) have SC roots. My funny Duce story is as follows: First of all he is a car guy, with a Drag Race Team, 04 360 Syder, Bently Continetal, 65 GTO convertible, etc. I was driving my car through 5 points (USC campus) and saw a Bently GT comming down the hill in front of me. I turned as he turned and drove along side for 1/4 mile or so. There was this beautiful girl in the passneger seat with Duce behind the wheel. He leans over her to shout out the window-does that have an F1 does that have an F1? I shook my head no...to which he replied you should have got an F1. My car is a 91 348 Challenge....it was priceless.

Not a football fan at all but watched it socially and really sad to see the refs screw up the game that badly. The push wasn't interference, the steelers did not get the first touchdown and on and on.

Nice to see all of the armchair refs on the boards as well :) The PI call wasn't hugely obvious, just a simple push off but it was enough to draw the flag by the bounds of the rule. The ref was reaching for his flag and missed, then reached back again to pull it out (you can clearly see this in the view from the rear of the endzone).

The TD is a bit of a different issue, and could go either way, but what really counts is the ruling on the field. For whatever reason it was ruled to have been a touchdown. They reviewed it and they didn't find conclusive evidence against it. To me, it looked like the tip of the ball that was in the forearm of Ben just barely crossed the beginning parts of the white stripe. By rule this is a touchdown, even if it is just 1 mm of ball touching the first mm of stripe.

What surprised me was how tight Pitt was playing early on. Except for those last 2 or 3 drives of the first half Pittsburgh barely had 10 total yards of offense. Ben looked like he did during the playoffs last year - terrible. Nothing at all like the first 3 games of the post-season this year. I guess it was just nerves.

In any event, no one can deny that he's had a great start to his career!

I agree it looked like those calls were off. Steelers did have some good plays like the 75 yd. run and the trick play pass for an TD. Seatle threw an interception on the go ahead score and Steelers took over. The bus has leaft the bldg.

My team cleaned out their lockers almost 6 weeks ago, so I really didn't care who won the game. However....

Seemed sort of scripted to me. Did anyone notice that the guys holding the Vince Lombardi trophy and talking about the game were all Steelers? I may have missed one, but I only saw one Seahawk vignette, Hasselback. These were all filmed prior to the game. I little one sided IMO.

Seattle dominated, but when the Steelers couldn't deliver, the refs stepped in. Holding on key downs or on players not anywhere near the action on big plays. As Al Michaels pointed out, refs could probably call holding on every play. Why did they choose the plays that they did? The push-off in the endzone was ticky-tacky, but the 15-yarder on Hasselbeck's tackle after the interception was criminal. Everyone will remember Seattle's collapse in the 4th Quarter, though. That was all on them. But one has to wonder how they would have played if they had not had so many momentum-ending calls go against them.

The officiating went the same way the press coverage did. Too bad but no surprise either.

    What a terrible Super Bowl.

I know I will just echo what everyone else is saying by saying the officiated was horrible, but it needs to be said.

Roethlisberger did not cross the goal line.

The reciever did not push off

The lineman was not holding (On Jeremy Stevens catch at the 2 yd line which got called back)

I cant belive Hasslebacks fumble was even reviewed, I saw that he was down the second it happend.

Remember Hasslebacks interception, then the penalty called on him for a block below the waist? Anyone notice Roethlisberger did the EXACT same thing on that trick reverse which Hines Ward scored on only a few minutes later? ( ill be looking for pictures to explain my case) Hasslebacks penalty was wrong because he didnt even block someone, he tackled below the waist. Ben Roethlisberger blocked him below the waist. Horrendus job by the officials, this needs to be remembered when celebrating the Steelers "Win"

Seattle Coach Mike Holmgrem (Sp?) was very composed however, kudos to him. I wasnt to concerend who won or not, infact I am still sad the Broncos lost, but I was very upset at how Pittsburgh was getting the hometown advantage. I truley believe the Seahawks would of won if the refs wouldnt have made such terrible calls.

Oh, dont even get me started on that terrible half-time show.......

I was wondering the same ******* thing, because in the 2nd quarter, the seahawks guy, i cant remember, CLEARLY caught the ball, ran a couple steps, got NAILED and it was counted as an incomplete?????? WTF they need to do a drug test on these refs!!

The refs did a somewhat passable job of hiding whatever was going on (like a tranny from 50 feet away, you can't be sure just yet...) until the fumble call which was overturned for the Seattle QB.

At that point they, and the NFL, were completely embarassed on global TV.

It's one thing to provide some home field advantage to a team, but it became increasingly obvious what was going on as the game progressed. Sad, but it's not just the NFL, such things are part of the big $$$ involved these days....
