the topic came up one a different board. Carerra GT VS saleen S7 in safty. I remember seeing a vid of a guy one a track day who ran into a wall (not too terribly fast). The car had very little damage but the guy died. And i remember a guy who used to work for saleen saying how they made ghe chassis in 3 major parts (front, mid, rear) and a chromoly cage in the middle making it very safe. Also its VERY close to its race car brother which has to reach safty standards correct? Anyone know anything about the safty of super cars? how about the enzo. we see a lot of pics of enzos ripped apart, how amny survive?
...its spelled "safety" why are you concerned? do you work for the NHTSA? are you collecting crash data? I dont think you understand the physics of vehicle crashes well enough to give you a in-depth answer. So I will tell you that "supercars" are very safe considering the velocities and kinetic energies that they are designed for. Enzo comes apart to remove the dangerous powetrain from the passenger cell. As designed. Of the Enzo crashes that are public, only 1 was a fatality, and it was a head on that would have killed anyone driving any car. The carrera GT crash at Cal speedway was a very high speed crash that occured as the driver had to avoid another car while going very fast on the banked oval. If the car didnt appear damaged to you, thats a good sign. The S7 is nearly identical to the race version. Only a stronger roll cage is added. (much more is removed). There are regulations requiring cages of certain alloys and thicknesses for racing, but there are no crash tests for GT ravcing. Road rules are far more strict. Anyway, driving any car fast is a huge risk. If you have such strong concerns for safety, perhaps you should look into a volvo. or ride a bus. Cheers Eric
thanks buddy... A) sorry my spelling isnt up to your standards. much like your reading comprehension :\ B) im just curious... like I said C) It was my understanding the carerra GT crash wasnt all that fast... i havnt seen it in a while and im not sure if it even said. D) The reasons you gave for the enzo falling apart are the reasons i said the saleen was safe. its supposed to do the same thing... UNLIKE the carerra did when that guy died. so dont tell me i dont know what im talking about with car safty when you dont even understand what im getting at. basiclly you were no help... but thanks for being ******
needcash, I must say that I do not understand why you are reacting in such a negative way to velocityengineer's response. To sum up his reply, most supercars are quite saf. Basiclly, amny survive quite severe impacts while some don't. Nothing in life is 100% saf.

well apperently my memory failed me a bit. But still, how fast was he going? That doesnt seem to be a TON of damgage for a high speed crash (unlike the enzo one)
