I just had an excellent chat with Mike Sharness (sp?) (Director of the Ferrari Club of NA) and he is having the workshop manual sent up here next week for me to study.

I think I'll have a 308 or a 328 here in September, by the sounds of things.

Is there anybody with a 308 or 328 in Wisconsin, Illinois, or Minn that that can bring it by before then? I am 1 hour North of Madison or Milwaukee. If I had one to examine for a couple fo hours, I'd know in a hurry what I'm getting into.

The CIS system is no problem for us, I want to look at some of the logistics of the install.

It was a pleasure talking with Carl -- he knows his stuff. Scott, you might want to talk with him... his opinion is that the Vortec unit you're looking at is actually oversized for our 3 liter engine, and you'd have trouble getting it enough fuel via our CIS. I've agreed (and have already started) to get him 308/328/Mondial technical info.

(Oh, and I'm Southeast Regional director for FCA, not for all of north America, but thanks for the on-paper promotion! ;)).

i'm going to have to make a descion.

i'm not a sponser so i can not advertise or call for those who want to help with making a marketable 'kit'

i'll continue to post updates as to progress and leave it at that. i would ask though if Carl wants to start on a 'kit' for marketing then please start another thread. i do not want to get into any trouble with mods here, they have graicisly let me stay here with the Cam pullies. however that will soon also be done as it now moves onto distributors who are sponsers.

my original plan was to put together a number of these at cost to get it off the ground. honestly if Carl is also stepping into the arena i'll have to bow out and move forward directly with my own sponsers and make it available from there. i just do not have the capital Carl has to do this gratis in a very short deadline. my appologies.

my appologies to any i have offended.

I *am* an active moderator here. When you're talking about developing something otherwise currently unavailable as an off-the-shelf item (such as the Supercharger setup), and not in competition with our paid FChat sponsors, I have NO problem with those kind of discussions... just like Verell with his "unobtanium" parts, and you (Scott) with your adjustable cam pulley with new belt arrangement. Or Carl jumping in with his Porsche experience, even if it ultimately develops into a Ferrari kit. Such development efforts benefit the community, even if they do later develop into a commercial enterprise. While they are in the development stages, there is no problem with them being discussed here with the "potential customers" and other technical experts.

    Go for it.

Gee, Scott. I would think you already have a pretty healthy head start, since you already have a car to work on, a plan, and the rest of the F-Chat guys here helping out where we can and watching it develop intently. I don't think Carl has plans to really start until September from his comments above, and he may not have a kit available until next spring from the sound of it. So far he's just offered his expertise if we need it, which I think is great. Ask him questions!

Over 1000 people have checked into this thread since you started it just a short time ago. I say go for it and keep us all posted! One way or another, I'm going to add a supercharger, possibly with an intercooler to my car. I don't have the time to work it out myself, so I'm counting on you guys. The 308's and Mondial's need a good 100+ hp more so we can keep up with the rest of the newer Ferrari's out there. I hate seeing a snooty "tuner" stick his nose in the air when a true Italian exotic should be able to out-class him in every way. With over 12,000 308's and (I don't know how many 1000's) of Mondial's, there's a market here waiting for an answer to the hp problem. Looks we've got, horsepower we need.

I think Scott’s point is 2 fold. First, I don’t see Carl actually providing any information to the thread. Instead the input appears to be a direct solicitation of business…at least that’s how it reads to me. The second point is that Scott plans to put a kit on his car, and to save himself money on his own set-up he’s letting anyone who wants come along for the ride come and everyone gets the quantity price break, pretty nice of him I think. After that, the design will be tuned over to a site sponsor for future sales. To me, that would put Carl in direct competition with a site sponsor, not with Scott who’s really just building what he wants for his car.

I would probably read it differently if Carl was providing any relevant information to the discussion, but all I see are links to his commercial website and repeated solicitations for a test car…..but maybe it’s just me, but at a minimum it doesn’t seem like asking Carl to start a separate thread is unreasonable since the point of this thread was for Scott to document his progress.

nope and i've run outof time between now and monterey, it'll have to be after the events. i did have one f-chatter contact me and then he mysterously vanashed. i do hope he's doing okay, but i've been unab;e to contact him so it's off for another contact.

although today when i called my local parts guy he said and elderly gent came in with a 308 and was in need of some parts. and was also looking to sell the car as he's too old to drive it much and the faimley doesn't want an old expensive to maintain car around. apparently he's asking under 30k. i have no idea as to condition age or yr. i'll get his contact info tommorow. might be worth looking at just to see how things 'line' up ;). course i'll pass on the info to you guys incase someones looking for a 308.
