After doing some research, and contacting them directly, 928 motorsports is confident they can successfully install a supercharger on a 348. They are located in Horicon WI. All they need is a car for the first install.

    Anyone around that area interested?

    Please!

    Robert

Hi Robert, what kind of supercharger are they considering using? Rotrex? Vortech? I'm assuming it is something relatively small, not a Roots blower?

I thought Norwood's in Dallas was the expert when it comes to supercharging 348s and other f cars.

Norwood built many turbo charged 348's. Noone has yet to build a bolt on 348 supercharger.......

I am assuming mainly as the motor is longitudinal rather then transverse......

The Stooges have been studying the mechanics of tapping engine energy to spin a supercharger. The 2 possibilities we were considering were (1) the transmission shaft at the rear of the pumpkin and (2) a shaft extending through the "V" from the engine front traveling beneath the plenums.

The challenges were in these cases (1) creating a coupling to the trans shaft (very hard metal to tap or drill into) on to which one could bolt a pulley; and (2) locating a source for a front mounted pulley, then engineering a transfer shaft to the rear where the SC would be mounted.

Although we are not looking to blow the 348 engine, turbos look much more feasible.

You are correct. However, have you contacted them and asked their opinion?

Contacted who? Norwood? why? they "built" turbo'd cars, not supercharged. no need to contact them

928 motorsports on the other hand has successfully built supercharged kits for the 308 328 and mondial which is essentially the same block as the 348 just turned 90 degrees. They are ready and willing to succeed in this mission.

I was hoping that someone might be interested from around that area, but maybe hope only runs so far.

Well if my pile of crap was running properly I would be crazy enough to shove more air down it's throat.

Don't think this info is waisted. ;)
