Hi experts I have a question about the synchro rings offered by Superformance particularily for the Dino. The price of these rings are 1/4 of all the other offerings out there and I am wondering how this may be the case. Just for comparision the rings I'm looking at are 68GBP each which equates to about $90; quite a lot for a synchro ring but nothing like the $400+ each that most other suppliers are asking for theirs.

I know for a fact that Ferrari gets their rings from new manufacture suppliers (different to original) so even OEM is not really OEM any more. Can anyone share a knowledgable opinion as to where the differences may be if any? I will buy the expensive ones if I have to but prefer to not waste money if it is not necessary.

I kindly ask for informed knowledgable responses as opinion that has no basis on engineering fact or an opinion lacking in experience will only cloud the pursuit of a good answer that others can depend on when selecting synchro rings for their cars.

All I can say is that I know Superformance well...my brother used to work for them.

    They make excellent stuff.

They are a parts supplier to many well known makes, including BMW.

So, I would say if the specs are right, you will be fine using any of their parts.

Replaced all my syncro rings on a 308gt4, Ron did the rebuild work.

Excellent quality materials. Having said that with 70K on my clock the wear on all bar 2nd was minimal, so it may be an unnecessary expense.

    Worth measuring before ordering.

Their parts came from the OEM in Germany (name escapes me!)

Do you recall what they charge you to replace the synchros?

I spoke to several vendors about synchro rings for my 246 L-series and Ron from SF was by far the most knowledge guy and knew upfront all dimensions. He also informed me who the fabricator was (I have since forgotten that, but I believe it could be ZF?). I ended up with 5 new rings from SF and have had no issue so far after 4000 km of driving.

    Best regards Peter
