Just got back from my second viewing, and I think I really like the movie. It's long and heavy, and a few scenes and story points are wacky, but hey, it's a comic book movie!

The effects were mind boggling, especially the first airplane scene. Routh made a great Superman, and the story was well conceived.

Any thoughts from those who've seen it?

2.5 hours of my life that I will never get back -- and I'm a Superman fan!

Kevin Spacey was excellent as Lex, but beyond that the acting was poor, the plotline weak and the resolution at the end made NO sense at all within the confines of the Superman mythos.

Christopher Reeve was and is Superman. Routh is a nice, young, earnest, and sincerely-trying actor wearing a Superman suit.

It'll be on cable in a couple of months.

Have you heard about the Superman Retirement film?: "The Great Ex-Cape". :D

(I still like "The Incredibles". "Supermodels: bah! Nothing 'super' about them.")

It was awful. They did nothing with the story. Just terrible.

I thought it was great. Felt just like being a kid again. They used the same swooping-in opening credits, with that umistakable music to get your blood pumping. Brandon Routh is good, but not as great as Reeve, who had much more charm, especially when in Clark Kent guise. This is just plain ol' summer popcorn movie fun. It doesn't get any better.

Saw it, it was a very Good movie. I think Batman Begins was better though.

Haven't seen it yet. Not a SUPERMAN fan at all but KEVIN SPACEY looks great. I'll probably see it just for his performance. But only at matinee price.

Agreed. They should have taken the story somewhere else, I just couldn't get my head to accept that this WAS superman, just 5 years later?!?!

Spacey and Posey were great though :)

Going to see it tonite at 6pm on the iMax. Eh, I'm just going to see it because it's going to be on the iMax. I only see movies if they seem good and are going to be showed on iMax or DLP. I'm just waiting for Spiderman 3. They did an excellent job with the Spiderman movies.

Superman 2 is still my choice for best Superman movies.

I was surprised to hear the same music, the main theme & the love theme, in the new version.

The movie tried to link w/ Reeves Superman, but after all, it was almost 30 years ago when Superman: Movie was released. They should just re-made the whole movie.

In Superman 2, Lois found out Clark was the superman, right?

Yes, but he later gave her a superpowered kiss that somehow erased her memory of that knowledge.

Just got back from the movie.

It was better than expected, not bad at all. Word of advice, do not watch it on an iMax dome theater. The screen is too freaking huge to enjoy the movie. I wish I went to see it on a regular screen. Oh well.

It was a nice, fun movie. Not a classic but the cinematography was beautiful. Really. The special effects and the lighting at times reminded me of an old school superman comic. It was very visually stimulating. The plot was mediocre but I had fun watching it. Just dont go with comic book snooty expectation and you'll like it.

Louis Lane was a little whore in the movie.
