    If I want to tell the time accurately, I can have a casio for $25 Vs. Thousands for a rolex. Same argument, different day, yadda yadda yadda.

    Agree,

    Casio generally keep better time than a ROlex....but they are a Casio

    Corvette is a hell of a car now, and it will be very fast, handle well, and cost not much....But still a Vette...

    Porsche never was a car to be the fastest most powerful in the world..It was supposed to be a perfect balance of all features and that is what it still is...

    this car will be the ultimate track day assassin. equal to gt3 and cs but bullet proof and reasonable cost ownership. id love one if i could only get past the stigma of being a vette guy esp since i only do 5-10 track days/year.

    Except the Vette is faster than the 911. In the case of the Z06, a lot faster. :)

    Porsche never claimed the 911 to be the fastest car...In fact quite the opposite..They claim it to a balanced vehicle in all ways....A Casio is more accurate than a Rolex..but it aint no Rolex.....

    I am always confused about people thinking that unless a Porsche is faster than every other car it is lacking...Read about Porsche history...The 911 has never been about being the fastest, or coolest, or flashiest...It is what it was designed to be which is a well balanced, dependable, sporty 2+2..The public are the ones who put the 911 into supercar territory and when another pig comes along with a big honkin block all of a sudden a 911 is no good....?? the Porsche 911 will smoke a corvette in every area except purchase price and redneck burnouts.

    I would bet that this new corvette will still not have the suds to take on even a 2004 GT2 on any given track...

    if you bought a corvette Z06 and put the extra money it would have cost to buy a GT2, into the vette. It would smoke just about anything.

    My point is if Chevy wanted to smoke Porsche or Ferrari all they have to do is throw more money at it. But who would buy a 200K chevy?

    I guess people are buying 160K fords, so anythings possible.

    Oh, it can't "even" take on a GT2? If anything the fact you are even mentioning the GT2 is a direct indication of the amount buzz surrounding this car. Just imagine, what about the GT3 and the 911 Turbo, the cars that the Z06 actually competes with. The Z06 will beat them. :)
