    Ok. It's not my Ferrari, but all the same. I noticed dome surface rust on the floor panel of my Austin Healey. What's the best way to address this?

    Follow the directions carefully for cleaning and etching the surface and apply 2 or 3 coats of POR 15. you will never have a problem again.

    It is not necessary to remove the rust. This stuff is not ordinary paint, it is cured by exposure to moisture in the air and forms a practically bulletproof surface.

    Buy the smallest can that you can get as it doesn't keep well once opened.

    I suggest their SUPER STARTER KIT:

    At most you might need a 2nd 4 oz can for 3 coats.

    For a floor pan I"d reccommend the satin black.

    BTW, most auto paint supply stores now carry POR15 products.

    TIP: If you put the lid back on & there's some POR15 on the lid groove, the lid will be cemented on, only thing will be to take a can opener to it. You'll rip the metal before you get the bond to break loose(yes, the stuff is that strong!!!) To avoid the lid getting cemented on:
    - Thoroughly clean the lid & lid sealing groove with paper towels dipped in lacquer thinner.
    - Put a piece of plastic freezer bag between the lid & the top of the can, then gently tap the lid into place. Don't use a thin sandwich or snack type bag, the lid will cut thru it & cement itself on fer sure(ask me how I know).
    - Get some of the blue nitrile gloves & wear grubby clothes. It won't come out of clothes & if it dries on your skin, you'll wear it for a day or 2!
    -While wet you can clean it up with lacquer thinner, but once it's fully cured there's no solvent for it.
