survey: car taxes around the world

How much total tax and fees do car buyers pay around the world? I'll start with a F430 as an example, but prices for other cars are OK too.

USA - USD173,000 MSRP, plus sales tax 8.25%, license fee 2%.
China - USD400,000 includes tax.

 

Denmark - USD 550.000, with a 180% sales tax and registering the car tax.

I guess I'll stop complaining about California now...

 

What about the annual recurring property tax just to own the car - after it's purchased?

Can somebody explain to me the purpose of this thread?

 

It just shows how much easier and more affordable cars are in other countries.

For eg: 360 modena in US is around 150-200 K... in Australia 270-350 K.

 

Norway; F430 @ 420.000 USD

As an example; Mitsubishi Evolution @ 100.000 USD, Audi A8 @ 140.000 USD, BMW M5 @ 300.000 USD


It all depends on weight, engine volume, Co2 emissions and horspower.
Pretty much take the USA price and multiply three times when it comes to high performance vehicles.



I HATE THIS COUNTRY! Great women, fantastic nature, friendly people all over - but really fanatic eco-warriors in the government are some big party poopers.....................


Edit; And then comes a 500 USD annually "road tax" for every car you own.

 

Wow, talk about trying to keep you down. I guess they figure that those who can drive and afford it will pay for other social programs.

It looks like Denmark is the place NOT to buy an F-car so far at $550K USD.

 

Philippines

F430 - Php 26 million = $557,341.91
599 - Php 39 million = $836, 012.86

I think there are less than 6 Ferrari's in the Philippines. There is only one 599 owned by a pawn shop owner. There are also a couple of F430's and I haven't heard of any Enzo's in the country. Other cars that are present in the country are SLR McLaren, Carrera GT, Vanquish, DB9, Vantage, Murcielago, Gallardo, Corvette, and a bunch of Porsche's.

 

Okay for the countries listed but how much in Italy for a 430 and a 599?

Not to make this political, but Americans should never feel better about being taxed based on another coutries rediculous taxes. For example, I think any tax on them is ludicrous. But really, if someone is insane enough to cough up 300% of the value of a Ferrari and pay it to the Malaysian government, and still feels compelled to keep living there, they deserve it. Same with anywhere else with draconian taxes, including Denmark, or wherever.

While not a new car, the 77 308 or anything sold here in Minnesota, gets a 6.5 % sales tax. My plates run $38 year. And if I buy parts out of state, no VAT or any other kind of tax.

 

Whoah!! Dude... It isn't three times the Ferraris value. IT IS the value. Which means, when you sell it, you will get three times more (of course three time the value loss).


Ever in your life heard of a man moving from Malaysia etc. just because the car tax was high in his country?

You do know that my country will pay full treatment if I'm going to need a hospital? That they will pay my house payment when I don't have a job? And all of those other benefits we have here, cars are great but not worth moving to USA/U.A.E for....

Oh did I mention that our job payments are among the highest in the world, which means the average norwegian along with the swiss people can afford anything they desire in terms of daily, medical and social needs? That a norwegian will work less for food and shelter than anyone else in the world? That our oilreserves has a investing fond which equals 50.000 $ saving PER HEAD in our country that's just growing with international companies investments so that when the oilreserves are dry we still can continue to live in a life of luxury - you know, when Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Brunei etc are all screwed? That eventually if I get children they will live in the safest country in the world? Oh, did I also mention that Norway is one of the FEW countries in the world with no loans to other countries? That you can drive a truck here and make 100.000 USD a year? That we have the best consumer protection system in the world? Etc etc etc?



Ohhhh yes I still feel compelled. Wow, I just realized how lucky I am. Thank YOU for enlightning me.

That's a great point. Although some countries have very high taxes and prices, they also provide many benefits for their citizens. I wonder if that is the case in Malaysia?

 

I think most of the posts are helpful, informative and share knowledge about the car and the events surrounding it however ther are many like this which are there just to fill space and provide some people a reason to put something on a board.

 

As someone who travels internationally alot, I often hear the quote, "free health care." Well, now you know the whole story...it ain't free!!!! I find myself consistently reminding our European brothers/sisters of this fact. Nothing is...no social service. You either pay for it voluntarily or let the gov't pay for it yourself...thus the VATs and various gov't taxes (including car taxes) imposed by other countries. So everyone has to decide if you would rather have your destiny in your hands or the gov't. I am not hear to argue about the merits of the US...I realize we have our problems. I just don't want to hear the word "free" applied to taxed services. Ok, I am off my podium now...sorry.
