Hey Guys I just finished replacing all the front/rear upper and lower suspension bushes and ball joints … more than half of them were torn/shredded … Now I’m about to put the arms / hub back on the car and had a question. The WSM lists the torque specs for the M12 suspension bolts at 78NM = 58 ft lbs. At that torque, the arms appear to be frozen solid and don’t move / sway up or down. Has anyone removed / installed the arms ? Is the torque of 58ft lbs accurate ? Are the arms supposed to be firm and only move a bit when under driving forces ? Thanks!!
You probably used bushings that don’t match OEM equivalent. The factory bushings are washer type and do not bind when torqued. I used the Teflon washer type bushings from Superformance which are the equivalent to factory type bushings they are much more expensive and when you compare them to cheaper versions you can tell why. The other bushings should be torqued with the car at ride height because they will offer resistance once torqued down.
I used the bushings set sold for the Ferrari 355 by MaseratiNet (used by others on here before)... I am not sure if they are 'washer type' or not? How do I check this? Thanks!
They aren’t the washer type. And they are cheap for a reason. I initially installed these on my own car and quickly removed them. You might not notice the difference in ride but for me it’s obvious. The washer type don’t bind when torqued and are much smoother.
