Well, it's about <10 minutes to the start of Practice 1. Obviously, we didn't find any GA tickets otherwise I'd be at Suzuka right now. My last minute brainstorm was successful except for the darn tickets. S2 was available but not for 592 Euro.

I suspect P1 will be a replay of all the others with the exception of the new player in the game for Red Bull. It will be interesting to see how Yamamoto does in the car.

Alonso has stated that he'll be more agressive now that he's cinched the driver's championship. I suspect at race time it will be Alonso vs. Montoya. I haven't given up on the red cars, sure I'd like to see Michael win but when it come to reality check time - well . . . most of you know how that goes.

Time to go back to the screen and see what's happening.

    Carol

35 min left in session and the only cars not on track are the red ones. It's de la Rosa, Fisi, Kimi - wonder what's up with the Toyota of Zonta - he's in 10 and normally he's a front runner. Yamamoto is equal with de la Rosa for the number of laps but he's showing in 10th - yeah it's just practice but anytime you put a time to something it give the competitive feeling.

OOP'S - with 24 min remaining Kimi shows STOP in S1- wonder what happened?? track remains green - wow ......the Ferraris came out!!

<11 min and the Zonta - de la Rosa P1, P2 swap is underway. Appears that the two Ferrari cars and Trulli and done all their testing for this first session - each shows to have had 5 laps. 8 min left and Zonta shows STOP on S2

A big flame emerged from the back of Kimi's McLaren followed by some smoke. Looks like another engine change for Kimi.

That's not going to help their chances for the WCC.

Just realized I typed the wrong team for Yamamoto - s/b Jordan.

Second practice half-way over and looks to be getting damp. Kimi's right bank let go in the first practice.

On the bright side it looks like another nail in the McL coffin.

Kimi must be seeing RED as in a driver suit and chassis :)

They were probably the only ones to run on new tyres before the rain came. The rain started to fall only like half way through the session, so I wouldnt say Ferrari are on top.

Ferrari brought two types of tyre Bridgestone as usual. 1st session they were running on the their 1st specification tyres. 2nd session on the 2nd specification tyres. The 2nd looks competitive.

They both were quoted as saying that the tires did give a better balance as they wore a bit after a couple of laps however.

Should be an interesting weekend. But just like the current constructors race it should be McL, Renault and then Ferraris. Status quo basically IMHO.

if only mercedes road cars were as reliable as their F1 engines, they'd have a business.

Michael took a bit too much apex kerb for the conditions at the beginning of the esses. The car swapped ends, and spun across the track and the gravel trap before hitting the tyre wall left-front first. It was quite a substantial impact because the wet conditions reduced his ability to slow down.

Now you know how I feel for most of the season! It's only the race weekends in Australia, Japan and China which I can watch in daylight!

I had to wait until 2:30am to see the Brazilian GP... US GP was almost as bad - I think it was 2am or something like that.
