Randomly came across this old thread. If you have any other predictions, I'm more than happy to take them as this was dead on.

@RedTaxi so what did you end up doing?

Having 1 of each would be best. I would never sell the gated 430, not for a 458 unless it was for a speciale. It would be better to add a 458 to your 430, this way you get to keep a manual/analog car and add a modern car like 458/488/F8 with DCT. If one of them was a spider even better.

I currently own an F1 (by choice) 360 so maybe not relevant in your comparison. But truth be told at one point I thought I might just skip over the 430 and trade my 360 in for a 458. I love the looks of the 360 but also feel like the 458 is a knockout. I found a nicely opted 458 and took it for a test drive at the dealership. It was a pass for me. All the digital stuff and electronic "controls" only worked to alienated me from the driver/car connection. I hopped into my 360 and as I enjoyed a visceral two hour ride home the disconnect from the driver's seat in the 458 was further reinforced.

If you love your 3 pedal 430, I would do some serious soul searching before swapping it for a paddle shift 458. Two different animals to be sure. If you do swap it for the 458 it would probably be difficult to acquire another once you trade it in. Food for thought. Lots of 458s around-- and probably will be for some time.
