Sway bar link upper bushing 308

I may have one, I removed and upgraded my bars a few months back. can you send a pic to make sure I know exactly what you are looking for.

 

I used an energy suspension bushing part # 9-8103. Available at http://www.suspension.com/s.b.bushings.

These bushings need to chucked up in a lathe and tapered to about 1 to 1& 1/16 at the small end and left at stock diameter on the big end. I did not have a lathe, so i stuck the bushing on a bolt, tightened up the nut and chucked it up in a drill press and used a disc sander to grind a taper on it, stopping occasionally to check the small id.

Next step is to drill out the id of the bushing a bit smaller, (.005-.010) than the sleeve from the old bushing, so you have a good tight fit.

Press the sleeve into one of the bushings, put it into the drop link, then, use a vise to press the other bushing onto the sleeve and into the other side of the drop link.

Don't forget the washers.

If you are like me you are doing this fun little job in the driveway, if so, jack up both front wheels, it makes anything having to do with the sway bar easier without the torsional load on it. This applies to a arms or shocks.

You might try a dealer. I know they stock the standard rubber ones, but am not sure if they carry any urethane ones. I had to replace one drop link and I think the upper bushing was only about $25. The drop link on the other hand was more like $350.

It looks, like I have one but I dont think I can get it out of there.

 

If you are going under there soon, Can you look just before your engine case for me, to where the Shifting linkage enters and See if there is supposed play when where the boot is and the link (the connecting fork). I have recently had problems of loosing gears because it goes out of alighnment.
