There's an urban legend making the rounds again that claims someone had to euthanize their pet, usually a German Shepherd, due to complications that evolved following ingestion of cleaner from a Swiffer WetJet. I posted this because two of my employees came in today breathlessly warning me (we use the cleaner in part of our store) about the emails they received. It's gone around before, and it's false. Snopes has covered it, as has the SPCA. So I'm assuming this will pop up again.

Our shepard/chow mix ate a red shop rag last year and he had a helluva time passing it. It was not the most pleasant experience physically removing it after it was halfway expelled and would expell no more.

Any small animal that drinks harmful chemicals can potentially die, people that freak out about it have small minds.

The debunked rumor claims that Swiffer uses antifreeze in their cleaners, which is why dogs are attracted to it. They also claimed that just licking their paw pads was enough to deliver a lethal dose. Like you guys said, dogs will get into stuff no matter what--common sense.

Anything that can kill a medium sized dog with a tiny dose shouldn't be in a home anyway and I can't imagine Swiffer would have that much cleaner condensed in their containers. You're only cleaning a floor after all. This sort of thing is non sense and I can't believe rumors like this get any air time at all.
