Hi all, sorry, I know this has been asked a few times but I can't find definitive answers.

My car (98 F1 Converted EU) has had some butcher install a head unit in the past. It came with the xr21rds installed but I can see that it maybe didn't have that originally judging by the wiring behind.

Anyway, I want to install quite a basic Blaupunkt DAB unit with a small carplay screen mounted underneath it. But I'm missing a switched live. The Sony unit had to be manually switched on and there definitely isn't a switched live available behind the head unit.

I found instructions on here that with a 2.7 you could get it from the pink wire on plug c behind the footwell fuse box, but mine didn't have that. Is there an easier alternative to hooking into the ignition switch? That would be tricky to get to due to access.

    Thanks!

    Joe

Do you want the installation to be inconspicuous, like having the splices behind the relay panel or, space permitting, would piggybacking off a fuse be ok?

Does your cigarette lighter work with or without the key?

This is going to be harder than I thought. There are only two fuses in the passenger footwell with key power on them, and they cutout during engine cranking:

Turn and reverse lights/window and mirror heat
    Windscreen wiper/ brake lights

Thankyou! I don't think it will be an issue for it to be off when cranking, i'll give it a go, see if i can hook off one of those.
