Weak. Super cars should not just be judged on performance as something quicker will always come. These cars should be judged be by their effects on people and cars alike.
where does it say they were judged on performance? i guess you mean because the veyron took the top spot? half the voters probably didnt even know most of the cars
True, although I think it has the top spot due to the current news coverage and being the current top speed record holder.
i agree on that, and also would say that it is more of a media and popularity contest. the biggest surprise to me is the Koenigsegg CCX coming in third!?!? also, would have thought the enzo would have placed higher! 95% of the voters probably never heard of an fxx! also for people that knew the fxx and mc12 split the enzo vote. but even adding all three together the enzo would still have been in the same spot!?
because thats pretty much what that list is. some obvious cars that should be on there, and im no expert on this, are the porsche 959, Ferrari f40 and/or 288 GTO, jaguar xj220, aston-martin vantage le mans, bugatti eb110, and many others. like i said, im no expert so forgive me if some of those i listed shouldnt be there (such as the xj220, which i have heard a lot of negative comments about(
agree on that too! just thought it might add a little entertainment to the forum. perhaps i shouldnt have posted it? jeff
I second that, what a list of New Age stuff... Carrera GT...haha that's a joke and a half right there.
You left out the highest costing of all of them as well, if it costs that much, it 'must' be the best.
i dont know what everyone else thinks of this, but why doesnt everyone post their own personal top 10? and from there we can compile a huge "top 10" list. i guess ill take the honors of going first. remember, im not an expert at this so here is my personal rating. 1. McLaren F1 2. Ferrari F40 3. Ferrari Enzo 4. Bugatti Veyron 5. Lamborghi Muira 6. Porsche 959 7. Jaguar XJ220 8. Maserati MC12 9. Saleen S7 Twin Turbo 10. Pagani Zonda F close 11. Porsche Carrera GT feel free to add your own
hi this is my looking on that 1.McLaren F1 2.Ferrari Enzo 3.Ferrari F50 4.Bugatti Veyron 5.Jaguar xj220 Tvr 6.Pagani Zonda F 7.Maserati MC12 8.Lamborghini Diablo 6.0 9.Ferrari FXX 10.Ferrari 575
Here it is, my list, and therefore the correct and best list 1: Pagani Zonda F 2: Ferrari F40 3: Ferrari Enzo 4: Mclaren F1 5: Lamborghini Miura 6: Jaguar XJ220 7: Bugatti EB110/Veyron (Only one of them can be on my list, which one I do not know yet. The Veyron may turn out to be a hunk of ****.) 8: Lamborghini Diablo (And all its predecessors) 9: Porsche CGT 10: Porsche 959
wouldnt you have to have some guidelines? like milestone supercars or currently relevant performance supercars? or best return on investment supercars? the most exciting? best looking? what about duplications like the enzo and mc12, or the fxx and mc12 corsa? jeff
My personal list: 1 - Ferrari F40 2 - McLaren F1 3 - Lamborghini Miura 4 - Ferrari F50 5 - Porsche 959 6 - Ford GT40 7 - Jaguar XJ220 8 - Mercedes 300 SL (Gullwing) 9 - Ferrari 288 GTO 10 - Bugatti EB110 The F40 because it took the supercar concept a step further... performance was all it was about. The McLaren F1 because it was the work of a genius. and it is 12 years old and still is considered by many the most accomplished car ever made. The Miura because it was the first mid-engined supercar, launched at a time when everyone thought that the mid-engined layout was confined for the race track. It was the car that started the mid-engine legend that still continues today. The F50 because it was a superbly engineered supercar. The 959 because it added lots of useful technology to supercar performance, setting the benchmark for "the usable supercar." The original GT40 because it was a super sucessful Le Mans racer and had no rival at the time of its launch. The XJ220 because it was the result of a very brave decision from Jaguar, and because nowadays no one would risk to build such a car if they were in the situation Jaguar was at the time. It was a big gamble, and cheers to Jaguar for their courage. The Gullwing because it is considered by many specialists the "first supercar", as it would do 240, 250 km/h at a time when a car that achieved 200km/h was considered a very fast car. For many specialists, it was the McLaren F1 of the 50's in term of speed, engineering and conception. It is also the best looking car ever (IMHO). The 288 GTO simply because it started the Super Ferrari legend The Bugatti because of its brutish nature. A car that had many useful technological features that helped raising its performance level, such as its modest capacity V12, with 4 turbochargers, 5 valves per cylinder and the 4wd system. Again a car that not everyone would have the courage to built. This is just my opinion, and i might think differently next week, but right now, this is my list. There are many other cars that deserve to be in this list, but if I placed them all, this would be a top 30, not a top 10...... I'm sure many of you will not agree with my list, but that's what subjectivity is all about, right?
Another ill-informed comment from someone who will never be closer to a Carrerra GT than sitting on the can reading a car magazine! Seriously, The CGT will kick the butt of most so called supercars out there, even your (and my) beloved F40!
