Alex, that 410 SuperAmerica is so striking in person. Thanks for bringing it out to the Paradise Valley show a few weeks ago. I've never seen one of those cars up close and it was so pristine and perfect; just a great example of a Ferrari from back in the day.

Question about that 410 - why is the shift pattern 'backwards'? I remember seeing a hand-drawn shift diagram posted in the cockpit.

Great pictures, by the way. Thanks for sharing.

That 410 has got to be up there with the most beautifully elegant cars ever created.

The car is very specific in its custom features, which makes it unique among the five series II's produced in that body style. The original buyer, a wealthy young man, specified a competition gearbox, which in those days was fitted to right-hand drive racecar, therefore the opposite shift pattern. He also had a rally clock and compass fitted to go along with his sporting aspirations. The car also had several Mercedes 300 SL bits like the steering column and seats as well as some pieces of Bosch electrics, as the buyer was a Mercedes 300SL owner as well and wanted some familiarity in the car. It also has rear window wipers as the car was originally consigned to Cleveland where it apparently rains a bit.

Line 'em all up and take a picture. Caption to read "Decision decisions....." :)

    Love the F50!!!!

Funny, as I look at the pic it looks like a stock portfolio...a few of those cars have red arrows pointed down, but most of them have green arrows pointed up. But who really cares about that sorta thing. I'm more inclined to imagine which supermodel would go best with each. :) :) :) :)

Alex I noticed in some older threads you had a white Corvette ... earlier I thought a C1 Corvette was all you were missing but apparently you did have one, do you still have it? And what year, 58??

It was a beautiful 59, but it told me it felt out of place among all those European poseurs so we sent it somewhere it could take center stage. A good friend of mine bought it and took it to South Africa where it is proudly the only 59 Corvette in the whole country! :)

Nice! :) poor little Vette. I think Bill over here in Indiana has your car's twin, his is also a white '59 but I don't remember what color the scallops were and I can't find the pic. Beautiful!! I'm still trying to be able to tell the difference between 58/59/60 models, it's tough!

Alex just a thought. Maybe, since the Corvette was lonely, instead of shipping it off, you should have bought it some companions, like a C2 Sting Ray or split window, and a C3 Stingray, and maybe one of the early-early C1s with only 1 headlight on each side :) But don't listen to me, it's your money :)

Wow- what a collection. I know the thread is a little old, but that shouldn't be a reason for not bringing it back up.

I just want to say that the 410 alone is stunning and the rest are fantastic by themselves and put them together- well, this is just automotive nirvana. I have not been a real vintage car guy but the 410 leaves me breathless. Congratulations Alex on such a tremendous collection.

    best regards,
    Jerry

Indeed, 0713 has several unique (and wonderful!) features. The shift patern is present in several (perhaps all?) of the S2 SAs. I always wrapped a wad of paper around the shift knob when driving 0717 to "remind" me about the "first gear up right" box. It didn't always work though!
