Syrian Mig 21s and 23s

The Soviet Union was supplying them, and their Arab neighbors, with fighters even before the 1967 Six-Day War.

 

There are still quite a few countries operating the MiG-21, such a cool looking jet.

 

Good target practice for our guys

 

I read somewhere that there are 40 or 50 privately owned MiG-21's in the US.

 

The USAF at one time probably had as many -21 and -23's as Syria did.

 

Did the interviewer choose such a large microphone so that it would fit in with the era those jets came from?

Still, interesting stuff!

 

Obsolescent aircraft work great as long as they are uncontested and you can find parts.

 

There is a great book called Red Eagles: America's Secret MiGs, about the MiGs brought to the U.S.

 

Same thing is happening to me, Taz. I'm uncontested, I think, but finding new or even used parts is getting tougher. Super Glue and Duck Tape work sometimes, tho.
