I know this not everyone's "cup of tea" but I really enjoy modern electronics and old fashioned engines. So, in that spirit, I installed a 10.1" tablet radio today. It was easy and so far, it is everything I want. Here is what I purchased and installed:

    Products
    1. YODY 10.1 Inch Single Din Android 8.1 Car Stereo HD Capacitive Touch Screen Car Radio Audio Support Bluetooth WiFi GPS Navigation Mirror Link (NO DVD) ($279.00 on Amazon)
    2. Best Kits BHA1784 Aftermarket Radio Harness for Select 86-Up European Vehicles ($14.95 at Fry's Electronics, also available on Amazon for cheaper)
    3. Metra 40-VW10 Antenna Adapter ($5.95 at Fry's Electronics, also available on Amazon)

    Installation:
    1. Remove old crappy factory Ferrari radio. You will need the removal keys
    [IMG]
    2. The BHA1784 wiring harness works great but you will need to do the following minor adjustments to make it work

    • The yellow constant on the BHA1784 wiring harness must be connected to the red ignition switch wire on the new radio's wiring harness. Therefore, you must connect the red ignition switch on the BHA1784 wiring harness to the yellow constant wire of the new radio's wiring harness. Apparently, Ferrari's Becker radio is just switched from other European radio's that the harness works with.
    • Otherwise, connect the ground wire (black), speaker wires (purple, green, white, grey), and illumination (orange) to the corresponding wires on each harness as expected
    • My car came with a factory amp under the dash and subs in between the seats. Therefore, I had to insert the blue/white wire that came with the BHA1784 wiring harness into harness that corresponds to pin #5 ("control output for aerial antenna") of socket A of the factory Becker harness and then connect that to the blue/white remote turn on wire of the new radio. BHA1784 comes with 2 extra wires (blue and blue/white) that can be installed into the appropriate pin of the harness as required by the specific vehicle it is going in to.
    • Although I am not for sure, I would assume that if your car does NOT have the external amp under the dash, then the amp is internal in the radio or mounted elsewhere. Therefore, you may or may not need to connect the blue/white remote turn on wire
    • The antenna adapter just snaps into the factory antenna plug.
    • Make sure your connections are tight and zip tie them all together for a snug roll.
    • Install the new radio back into the dash using the cage that came with the new aftermarket radio. FYI, the cage that came with my new radio is garbage and I am going to try another brand (Kenwood) cage to get a better fit.
    • Test the new stereo before sliding into the dash.
I still need to connect the navigation antenna, bluetooth mic, backup camera, and I have another camera I am going to use for front mount. The tablet radio allows for download of many different apps and has a wife antenna on the back of the unit to make connecting to the internet easy. It also has a wireless OBD icon on the radio so I am going to get a wireless OBD connector and see what I can do with that (anyone have any suggestions?).

I hope this little nugget of information helps the next person. Let me know if you have any questions. I am happy to help.

I like that the display doesn't block too much of the vents which some of the radios with retractable displays do (including the Ferrari branded Clarion). Are the heating/cooling controls visible when seated or do you need to duck down to see them?

Can you update the Android splash screen with a different image?

Does the backup camera show up automatically when in reverse or do you need to manually activate it (which would be fine with me)?

Please send a followup when you get the camera wired. Very interested in seeing that.

Thanks for the write up! I have the Clarion unit mentioned by @artsd and it indeed does block the vents when it is out. I prefer retractable and keep it in most of the time, but that one looks like it sits nicely between the controls and the vents. Good job!

About half the A/C controls are visible without ducking down but still very accessible. The only tricky part are the window switches. They are behind the screen so you have to reach around it. Still not a difficult thing to do at all

The splash screen can be updated with any image you want (there is a slot for SD card) or you can use the manufacturers' logos that came with the unit. Unfortunately, Ferrari is not one of the included logos. So no point with our cars.

I am going to install the backup and forward facing cameras soon. I am going to order wireless transmitters first. But, I will update when I get it done.

    Thanks!!
