Been trying to maximize enjoyment of my '06 Cayenne Turbo S. Factory has it unfunly set to start off in second. Auto shifts happen barely into the torque curve unless you're flooring it. There's a hell of a lot of fun to be had manually shifting the car. Problem is, I play music LOUD and the car is already QUIET, even with the BB cat back exhaust. Anybody have any idea how resillient this motor is, say to hitting the lower edge of redline somewhat regularly? You just can't feel this car redlining the way you can a 430 :)

assuming you have PSM switch as I do on my 06 S then switch that off .... that should get you down into first..... otherwise put the darn thing in tiptronic / manual then it will go into first - at which point you will realize these are the only true SUV out there.

OMG, finally a response. Need to RTFM to find the PSM switch. I spend all the fun time in tiptronic. Traffic, back to auto. FUN, FUN ride. Amazing that a rolling living room can move like that. But you know what I'm getting at. When you switch gears, it winds out an extra 1500 RPM between. Worried I'm going to send it past red line all the time if I get used to this. What to do? Does it matter? Does the rev limiter give me a good margin. Is there a rev limiter?

this vehicle has 2 distinct personalities.
one with the PSM switch off.
the other with the switch activated

I'm at Disney right now and have surgery right after I get back. So doesn't really matter for the moment, but where should I look for the switch when driving again? I know...rtfm. just curious and can't look right now.

Took less than five seconds to locate today. Never had any idea what it was. Will be reading the manual while recovering from hip surgery, and want to figure out if PSM off can be made default somehow. Seems like you have to turn it off every time you drive the car.

I'm not aware that you can set it off as the default - but heh it's not too much trouble to press the switch ....
