Folks, I can't figure out how to remove the tacho and speedo electrical plugs. The plugs disconnect, but are retained by a flexible green printed circuit. I tried pulling gently on the plug end of the printed circuit, but it didn't move. It's too fragile to put too much force on it. The other end of the printed circuit is screwed and bolted onto the tacho.

Here's a sample pic of the flexible circuit boards...

    Thanks.

Under the wiring in the middle of the plug there is a retainer clip type single !Tang! arrangement. Push that plastic Tang bit down towards the plug itself and gently wiggle and pull back at the same time and it will release. it took me a while to work this out. Its a !Tang! that grabs the gauge cluster. I had to change a bulb in the dash and its not the most fun job due to lack of room. Slowly/gently does it Regards Paul

The plug should easily come off when you depress the little button thing leaving the plastic instrument housing AND the floppy circuit board behind. I'm guessing you have enough corrosion there that they are stuck together. I would break out the miracle potions like P B Blaster, contact cleaners, WD40 etc and see if any of those along with careful dissection will break them apart. If it gets mangled instead you could probably carefully solder small wires to each copper track on the circuit board and hook them up the the wires from the harness and just bypass that plug

If you first remove the connector with the shortest cable (I forgot which one, but I think on the left side) , then you can turn the whole panel for a better view on the back side.
That first connector was a normal one, not the 2 coloured one (in my case).
Anyway, do not pull hard on the connectors, what Qavion says, it is a question of seeing the trick (tang)

Great stuff, thanks, guys. I just tried again with your advice and it was easy. I don't think I was pushing the release hard enough.

    Cheers
