Help, my rev counter only works when the lights are on. Checked all the wireing around the coil end and can find no problem, I havnt taken any thing apart at the rev counter end so cant see there being a problem that end. Dose it sound like a earth problem ? Any one got any idea of were to start trying to fix it ?

    regards

Pull the gauge and start with connections.. my guess is somehow when the lighting circuit is energized its completing the missing(corroded/oxidized) circuit. My gut would say ground related but unsure if ground is switched on the 328 lighting... Typically ground goes direct (not switched) & would not affect if lights are on or off (unless somehow switched completing the circuit).

Pull gauge & make your own ground connection to see if thats issue... should be able to find issue using detective work..
    Good Luck
