I'm trying to unscrew the four bolts to my master cylinder ( on my 308) but can't do it without removing the brake fluid tank on top of it. Does it just pull off the master cylinder(rubber gaskets are keeping it in?) or is there some Machiavellian way to take it off? Thanks for any help provided on this.

It should just pull straight up out of the rubber grommets. Don't pry with screwdrivers, don't want to poke a hole or crack it. Be careful of fluid splashing out.
