Hi Dave, I hope that the discussion was taken in good spirit as I wasn't disputing you as much as trying to clean up some areas. You are right regarding the 17-coded VIN. My point was in 1980 the 17-coded VIN was started, and that before 1980 the 5 digit serial numbers were used. I discovered the part my car played when I read 'The Complete Ferrari' by Godfrey Eaton (]page 341). I dug deeper and verified that my car was actually the car used in the factory bulletin SB-006 released on 3/7/80. Also, I want to say how much I and my family enjoyed the Renaisance Festivals attended outside of Castle Rock...We live off Arapaho Rd and Quincy for about 5 years...Great times were had while there (only 3 knee surgeries...not me...my kids). Take cared, John
Now I'm not sure if my 1980 GTSi is 1 of 29, or 1 of 2900, but I'm going to take the top off, put the German Shepherd in the passenger seat, and we're going to cruise around Tomball, TX listening to 80's rock and looking good!
No issue at all John. I thought you were referring to VIN numbers in general, not specific to Ferrari, so I mistakenly "corrected" you I understand what you meant now. I've been in Castle Rock for a couple of years now and I'm loving it. Lots of great driving roads within a short distance.
Thanks, Dave...It's nice when we can discuss things in a friendly manner. I enjoyed it. http://ferrari.cdyn.com/service_bulletins/
Your car was made in April 1980 and mine was made in March 1980...i.e. the short run using the bodies/chassis of the 1980 Webber carbed cars. So, you are one of only 29...Attached is the production of 308s from 1975-1985 and the service bulletin from Ferrari re the VIN breakdown. Enjoy your car! John

You know you have the right cars when all three of them are on display in the Ferrari Museums. 308 GTB QV, 328 GTB and 430 Scuderia. Image Unavailable, Please Login
60-mile, early morning cruise today after a minor carb adjustment and unexpected, high hot idle correction (2500! to 900).
Heaven forbid, for a second I thought it was wet. Have Ferrari forgotten about their huge sales success, the GTS ?

Mark, those bumper is original for original Canadian 328 and due to local law at that time about stronger 5 Miles per Hour front bumper standard instead of 2.5 Miles per Hour in USA
