Traffic, most roads are 25-30mph; fastest is 45, traffic. Did I mention traffic? Ferry ramp transitions are probably your biggest potential problem. Ask Steamship Authority if they have had issues with sports cars in general.

I had a home on the Vineyard for many years and had no problem driving my Dino or Corvettes on or off the ferry. The crew were very good at guiding you onto the deck. No height or bottoming out issues then. I mostly took the Islander ferry from Woods Hole to Edgartown...

I have taken my Gallardo on the ferry several times as we have a home on the Vineyard and the only issue is the on and off ramp to the ferry. Depending on the tide it can be an issue, but the SSA crew had me follow a truck closely on to the boat and his weight helped flatten the transition. The SSA people are pretty good for the most part and try to park me so that damage from car doors is limited.
