Its Simple all you have to do is turn Left and put your foot down on the pedal. Its the only alternative for those trust fund babies out there. Either that or learn the simple phrase " Do you want to super size that order!"

What is with NASCRAP these days? When Shumaker is done with F1 and if he heads to NASCRAP then I will know that the world has really gone insane.

What's up with NASCAR is that it's the only series left not entirely adulterated by irrational rules and regulations. The key being ADULTERATED. Yes, it has some of the most stringent regs of any series, but it has managed to stay true to its (entertaining) heritage - oval racing, high speed crashes, drafting, passing, etc. and Southern style drama.

WRC, ALMS, F1, B Group, CanAm, IRL, CART, etc. have all successfully managed to screw their respective golden gooses in the ass, compliments of lack lustre management. It's not that NASCAR is that great, it's that the others are that inept. Just my $.02.

Everything works in cycles though, just a matter of time until we can swap the names in the above argument.

While I don't watch it I'll say this about NASCAR. It's about race car drivers. I have the utmost respect for anyone who'll put on a helmet and race. The other thing about NASCAR is it isn't about Corporations. Yes they sponsor the cars and provide the engines but it certainly doesn't seem the drivers are always on the party line.

I'll always have a special place for F1 in my heart but I must say it doesn't hold the same spot it used to. Sadly it's not what it was and I'm not sure it ever will be.

Couldn't agree more. NASCAR is just well managed as a series. It's a stable environment for drivers, teams, sponsors and the public.
What's killing the FIA international series is the constant fidling with the rules, the irrational changes all of a sudden.

There it is. Not the biggest fan of NASCAR but if you think it's just turn left and mash the gas you're a fool. Try going into the banking at 180mph+. Then try it with 40 other cars around. Then try it again with the bumping. For as many drivers that are headed to NASCAR there are thousands more who don't make the cut regardless of whether they come through the NASCAR ranks or from open wheel series.

Saw a photo of Sebastian with Mario Theissen at Indianapolis - he's been linked with a testing role at BMW-Sauber. He'd be a heck of alot better than some of those yo-yo's in there now.

I think Bourdais is the real deal. He's talked about going to NASCAR before, this is not new. He has driven with success in IROC. Mark Martin, who has raced against him in IROC, mentioned he thought any owner would be nuts not to hire him. Sebastion thinks he is too old to get any real shot at F1. It's hard to imagine a Frenchman in NASCAR, but I think he would be welcomed.

    I agree with ya.

But F1 is the sport of politics and money, not racing anymore. Yeah, 'racing' is in there, somewhere, but it's not at the top as far as requirements go.

    NOTHING is, especially in 'sports'.

In years gone by, I would open up the sports page and read about.....SPORTS.

Today, I open up the sports page, and half of it seems to be about contract negotiations, trade rumors, criminal charges, lawsuits, idiot athletes being shot outside bars at 3 a.m., passing classes you never earned (Auburn), coaching change rumors, lockerroom antics, it just doesn't seem to have a whole lot of 'sports' in it anymore.

    Let's see:

    Japan is coming through Toyota.

Colombia and Latin America through JPM.

    The female drivers through Patrick.

France (of ALL countries!) and Europe through Sebastian.

Talk about expanding it's reach if the last two things happen.

All Nascar needs to do is get an African-American driver in.

They've got a few coming up through the ranks in the diversity program. Bill Lester is currently in Trucks and has driven a few Nextel series races.

Why can't someone like both F1 and NASCAR? Two very different forms of motor sports, both require great, although very different, skills.

Biggest difference is one has great competition during qualifying but not much during the race, the other has boring qualifying but great competition during the race.

Personally, I only enjoy the super speedways because I like seeing them go around at very high speeds side by side. I can't stand the short 1/2 mile and less tracks. It's too packed and they don't get up to speed that much. Road courses are pretty cool because you can really see what it's like to lug around a 3,600 lb steel car around the track. I guess that adds up to about 4-5 races a year I can actually stand to watch. Only race I don't enjoy in F1 is the USGP :)

I like them both and all the others as well. But when it comes to racing on TV, NASCAR has it hands down and it shows in the ratings. What pisses me off most about F1 is if you miss the qualifying, you have missed most of the competition. Step away at the start of the race, and you usually miss all the action. After the first turn, all the passing is done by pit crews.
