Great shots. Why did they make the lettering on the F50 tires white though? Looks horrible.
It would be hard to capture. The headlights are spring loaded. when you push the outer lower light, the headlight on that side POPS open. And I do mean POPS. If you'd like, I can take a few shots of the headlights up though...
Sure thing... just as soon as the check clears (and it better be a BIG check, I've been waiting a long time for this model) K, don't run off... have to take 'em right quick... EDIT: back with pics... Sure thing. If I get time, tomorrow I'll pull the seats and the rear firewall/bulkhead and take some shots... it's pretty impressive inside too.
hi to everyone the postman has just arrived with my 288 gto what a great day for me,its beeen worth waiting for. cant wait to open it.
I thought I'd get my model today.... didn't happen, I only got a check in the mail from Bush Jr. he wants me to stimulate the economy. LOL I would have rather got my GTO...... oh well, maybe tomorrow is my day? Anyone else still waiting? Were do you live? I'm in Florida
Got mine! I really like it. My daughter and I did the minor assembly and placed it next to the F40, F50 and Enzo 1/12 scales. It fit right in!
I just got mine yesterday, but did not have a chance to open it until today. All I have to say is WOW. This model is just full of amazing tricks. The whole magnetic assembly is pure genius. I am also happy that people are coming to their senses and realizing all the advantages of building models in composite resin, compared to die-cast. Paint and finish on the model are as good as they get. In my opinion this is the best 1:12 model made to date of any car, not just Ferrari (I am not counting the $20K one offs). The F40 is my all time favorite car in any scale and in reality, but IMO the Kyosho F40 does not hold a candle to this marvel. They both have pretty much the same engine, but the GTO has WAAAAYYYYY more detail under the hood. People were calling me picky when I pointed out the lack of plumbing on the F40. Well obviously it can be done. And thanks to the guys at Toronto Motorsport, for the same price, if not cheaper. Tamiya have outdone themselves with this one. They thought of everything, including the little self adhesive circle pieces to cover the holes for the screws that keep the model bolted to its base during shipping. As blown away by this model I am, I have to comment on a couple of things. As I noticed on everyones pix, all models come with quite a camber at the front. I don't think I have seen it on the real car. Also all pix of 288GTO that I have seen have black leather dash and door panels. This is not the case with this model, so I was wondering if someone can shed some light on the subject. Someone mentioned the lack of Goodyear logos on the tires. I have a feeling that this is not due to Tamiya's lack of attention to detail, but rather some kind of licensing issue. Anyway, as I said......BEST 1:12 MODEL I HAVE SEEN AT A TRIPLE DIGIT PRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Got mine today. Car looks great! I just need to figure out a way to get it to sit better on its right front wheel...body rest a little low on suspension. Be careful... I was playing with the screws on the front wheels and the wheel nut is two parts.. my left-front came apart, hex nut needs to be epoxied back on to round peg or I can't get the front wheel off. I'd give this model a "10" Tamiya did one hell of a job. Image Unavailable, Please Login
