Which in the 2 photo's I saw in this thread the information stickers on the fblk cover of both those shrink wrapped blk box photo's in bottom right hand corner and the other photo shows small info writen in both lower corners of the top cover of the blk box .

The grey is a box with hard preformed foam in it, the black is a sleeve that fits over the grey and holds the 2 halves together, the brown is a cardboard box with tamiya stencilling on it.

    Okay think I got it.
The car first comes with a grey type box they contains the hard foam and the car and even has a removable gto marked grey lid / cover , and this grey boxing / packaging is all inserted into a blk box that has a lid that opens like a jeweler ring case at the back it is still fasten.

This then is supose to come in a brown box specificially made for / to hold this 288gto car , blk box and grey box etc. And it too shows markings show it is a tamiya item etc .

NOT JUST a plain old brown shipping box, but is linked because it too has markings linking it to tamiya and or to this specific car.

Just want to make sure if I someday buy one of these new to makesure I get that tamiya specific marked brown box if I lucky that the seller held onto it. After all this tamiya marked box is also part of it's value.

Still stumped about the clear shrinkwrap????
One seller I talked to told me that is not done by Tamiya / factory but by certain sellers. According to the 2 photo's I show and found in this thread that wrap looks factory done .

Mostly because I see other writings and product stickers on the front of those boxes, whether they are stuck on the clear wrap or actually on the blk box???

One shows a blue label in bottom right corner , the other photo shows totally different writings and or stickers in both right and left corners.

These lower corner markings being different is it because they may have been a second run of them ??? NOTICE ALSO tin 2nd photo od clear wrapped blk box there are NO 2 RED lines running across the box. Is that second photo the back of one of these blk /wrapped boxes ???.

1st two photo's show the clear wrappings and look in both the lower right and left corners folks > extra writings and or stickers .3rd photo showsa NON -clear shrink wrapped blk box being opened from this specific Tamiya marked brown box. 4th photo shows the grey box and or liner inside the blk box , that also comes with a grey lid or cover > lid shown in 5th photo..

i think you worry to much. The black is not a box, it is a sleeve, 4 sides, open left/right. I have thrown away the brown box and the grey box with the inners removed is excellent for storing all my old audio cassette tapes.

You are quite right sir I am a worrier. But with these if I am buying new , and these are supose to be wrapped and the ones sellers or an seller is not wrapped then I could be getting used .

I had one seller finally tell me he dis-assembled his , put in back in box etc for sale as mint / new , never opened etc. Buying used is fine with me as long as you send more more photo's because it has been displayed.

AFTER all these are still HUGELY over exspensive. I bet Kyosho quality of 1:12 is better . Will see for my self some day.

Beefs with kyosho is paint sometimes super other times not so great and they don't come apart easily. but heard here neather do these 288gto's.

So I still don't know , are these suposed to be factory wrapped sealed with the clear plastic. Then curiuosly why in those photo's of wrapped box are they different looking boxes

I just purchased the 1:12 Tamiya 288 GTO. I decided to bite the bullet and just throw down for it. It's one of my all time favorite Ferrari's, the scale is just about as big as it gets and the price was right ($500). I can't wait to finally get it. It will be one of the centerpieces of my small collection.

Im hoping they do the GTO like they did with the Enzo and making an actual kit. I would put the money down for that.

It's sold out. It still can be found on the internet (for example there are sellers on Amazon) but they generally list for around $700. There's one on eBay for around $550.

Looks like the others on eBay sold.

I received the model and am really happy with it. The detail is incredible, it looks like every component and part on the real car was miniaturized and assembled into the model. I would have preferred a die cast metal body but oh well. It will be one of the centerpieces of my collection. Once I make a case for it I'll post some pictures.
