Yes congested and trying to get the ramp to do what u want is nearly impossible.

Al Assad is much better logistically speaking. I can turn out of the there in 30 minutes usually.

It is "plug and Play" for EFIS ADI, EADI, VSI and Flight control position indicator. We did our passenger birds along with triple GPS, EFB, Satcom, and a few other goodies.

Do you mean MD-10 kinda glass?

    Check it out

Yes, like the MD-10. I heard one was attempted, and it was a nightmare.

I could see that at the deid. To get the transient ramp to do anything there in a timely manner, GOOD LUCK.

The Marines there have always done a good job of getting people in and out quickly.

Ever stop by OKAS? Not much commercial traffic.... I'm here for a few days and then heading back home :D

I trained a few of the Dutch KDC-10 booms back when I was a CCTS instructor. Those guys were a lot of fun!

Yes they do, Marines have a "sense of urgency" unmatched by the "Deid Crowd" IMO.

Have not been to OKAS yet in a commercial bird. Whats that like? I usually go to the mil ramp in KWI.

Sense of urgency in the AF has mostly been replaced with a sense of micromanagement. God forbid you should upload all your pax and cargo and take off early. Gotta keep that precious ramp space clogged with as many planes as possible until the last minute.

For a big plane like a DC-10 the ramp here would be a nightmare. Most all of the taxiways are too small for anything larger than the Herk and my guess is that there would be some wing clearance issues as well.

This is not just a military/aviation problem. Happens to us all the time when responding to public sector RFPs for the specific type of software we sell. Disconnects between RFP writers and end users, neither of whom care to listen to valid questions and concerns that we have as the subject matter experts. Always ends in the entity wasting theirs and our time and money.

    Looks like a great mod.

Heres is what the USAF did on the C-5, KC-10 is ripe for a similar mod. It would makes sense to use the same vendor on the KC-10 as on the C-5.

As far as I know, the USAF told the RNLAF that they were following the dutch mod with great interest, but it also might have been a trick to make sure Boeing got the deal....:D Even a simulator was especially build for the RNLAF to match the mod. Must have cost a fortune.....they only have 3 (K)DC-10's.......

    BTW C-5 mod looks great!!!

The USAF tried the GATM/EFIS mod in the late 90's, early 2000's with the KC-10's and it did not work well so they ultimately decided against it. It's amazing because Boeing did the Pacer Crag mod with great success in the-135's.

It really surprises me because there are so many good avionics packages being produced these days. Hopefully they will put something good in the KC-10 pretty soon.....
