Ironic that so soon after the water heater thread mine decides to crap out. For those of you who use the tankless versions, are there any issues with pressure in multi-level homes? I don't want another tank, and would like to hear more pros/cons.

I put 2 of them in homes I was building and myself, the plumber and manufacturer are in law suits over them. Read the fine print on them. They do not handle much flow. I just finished an 8K sq. ft. home with 7 bathrooms and 2 50 gal heaters and the home owner says he's had no problems with capacity. The are great for instant hot water on kitchen faucets etc., but other than that they seem to be a gimmick. In my opinion as a custom home builder I wouldn't put one in if it were given to me.

If you have low pressure in a multi level home it is usually due to the water utility in your area. You may also want to check and see if you have a regulator near your water meter. Be careful not to turn it too far up as it will damage some appliances. We leave ours set on the lowest pressure setting and leave it up to the home owner to turn it up themselves. You can split washing machine hoses, automatic ice maker lines, etc. with too much pressure.

Do NOT use one. I have seen about 15 of them and none of them work for very long. The concept is good but the design is poor to say the least.

I've heard the gas ones work better than electric. I thought about an electric one when my heater went out last year. I figured that I could buy about three top-o-the-line standard tank heaters for the price of one tankless. The only way it would make sense would be if you used lots of hot water and it could save you some on the elecric bill. Kind of hard to save when your current bill is only $34/month though ;)
