    All,
I could swear I read (and posted in!) a thread here about a year ago posted by someone that had installed a new targa seal on their non-updated 308. I can't find any hint of it now, so I'll have to ask...

"Does anyone have leads on a new targa front seal for a 308 that has not had the seal update?"

I think they reported finding them at T. Rutlands, but I haven't gotten a response from there.
    Project F40th is underway!

And no more did I finish posting my inquiry here than I found I had an email I hadn't noticed from them. T. Rutlands can order them for $100.

What is the "update" on a 308?

I think he is referring to the seal above the windshield. Some of the 308s were updated by the dealers with a new structure and new designed seal to prevent water from coming in. My car had not been updated and I did the update myself.

    Dr Tommy:

The difference between the two different type of seals on the front of the targa top / top of the windscreen:

Steve Lay who used to be parts guru at Maranello Parts once explained why this mod was done.

It was because if rainwater gathered on the roof when travelling at low speed, under braking the water would all cascade forward and go down the front of the roof onto the drivers lap. The driver then had to get out of the car looking like he had wet himself which was not a cool look.
